️ Dynamic Weather Survival Dynamic Weather, Storms, Flooding, Lightning, Hail & Survival Events for BeamNG.drive + BeamMP Single-player + BeamMP Multiplayer Support About Dynamic Weather Survival is a command-driven dynamic weather and survival system for BeamNG.drive and BeamMP. Instead of simply changing the sky, the system dynamically changes the environment around you. Rain can make roads slippery and cause water levels to rise. Severe winds can affect vehicles and throw debris around the map. Hail can damage exposed vehicles. Lightning can strike players, cause electrical problems and trigger EMP effects. In BeamMP, weather phases and major weather events are synchronized across the server so everyone experiences the same storm. There is no required in-game UI app. The system can be controlled using BeamNG controls, the console or BeamMP chat commands. Dynamic Flooding Rain gradually raises existing WaterPlane and WaterBlock objects. Once the weather clears, water slowly returns to the map's original level. Wet & Slippery Roads Compatible asphalt surfaces lose grip during rain, while road materials gradually darken and become more reflective. ❄ Snow & Ice Snow and hail can introduce icy road conditions, significantly reducing available grip. Vehicle Wind Wind physically affects vehicles, with strength automatically scaled around vehicle speed and mass. Forest Wind Supported trees, vegetation and groundcover react to changing wind conditions. Dynamic Gusts Wind direction, gust strength and windburst frequency change depending on the active weather profile. Aquaplaning Standing water can cause speed, tyre-contact and vehicle-mass-scaled aquaplaning. Storm Debris Severe weather can throw debris around the environment while using a capped object pool to help control performance. ♻ Environment Restoration When Dynamic Weather Survival stops, the map's original environment state is restored. Weather Profiles Choose from a range of dynamic weather conditions: ☀ Clear Break • ☁ Dense Overcast • Morning Fog Cold Drizzle • Heavy Rain • ❄ Heavy Snow ⛈ Thunderstorm • Hail Core • Heavy Storm Each profile can dynamically control precipitation, cloud cover, fog, temperature, brightness, road grip, flooding, wind, gusts and duration. Weather transitions gradually between conditions rather than instantly changing. BeamMP Synchronization Dynamic Weather Survival has been designed with multiplayer synchronization in mind. BeamMP weather phases are applied server-wide so all connected players experience the same active weather. Major events can also remain synchronized between clients, including: ⚡ Lightning • Hail • Windbursts When exact server coordinates are available, those coordinates are shared between clients so the same event occurs in the same location. Survival Mode The weather doesn't stay calm forever. As a survival session progresses, conditions become increasingly dangerous: ☀ Calm ↓ Rain ↓ ⛈ Storm ↓ Hail Core ↓ Severe ↓ ⚠ Last Stand ↓ Eye of the Storm ↓ ☠ Cataclysm Most phases last approximately five minutes. Eye of the Storm lasts approximately one minute. Server administrators can manually select phases at any time, and manually selected phases can continue back into the normal survival timeline afterwards. ❄ Whiteout Rain has a configurable chance to transition into a rare Whiteout snow event. It can also be forced manually: Code: /survival phase snow Extreme Whiteout Extreme Whiteout can be manually started with: Code: /survival phase snowextreme Extreme Whiteout includes: Heavy Snow • Icy Roads • Severe Crosswinds • Synchronized Lightning Hail, microbursts, heavy-storm barrages and explosions remain disabled during this particular phase. Lightning System Lightning is server-authoritative in BeamMP. Each event includes synchronization information such as an event ID, seed, timestamp and selected damage recipient. ⚡ Vehicle Targeting Random strikes can target vehicles, with configurable targeting chances. EMP Effects Direct strikes can cut engine power and disturb vehicle electronics. Severe Direct Hits Depending on server configuration, direct hits can cause EMP effects, destruction or no additional effect. Strike Memory Repeated direct strikes can increase severity, with strike memory gradually decaying after quieter periods. Height & Elevation Vehicle height and elevation can slightly increase lightning susceptibility. Shelter Detection Overhead raycasts can reduce or block lightning risk when a vehicle is underneath cover. Aftermath Effects Severe EMP aftermath can affect electrical systems, energy storage, tyres and potentially cause fire depending on configuration. Positional Thunder Bundled close, mid, far and rolling thunder audio plays from the strike position. Lightning Visuals Lightning uses procedural forked geometry, repeated return strokes, sparks and impact effects. Hail System Hail intensity ramps from lighter conditions to peak intensity before gradually falling again. Hail presets can control: Stone Count • Impact Chance • Impact Radius Supported overhead cover can reduce hail exposure. Accepted hail impacts damage individual areas of the vehicle rather than intentionally using whole-vehicle explosion damage. Add exact player names to restrict control commands to administrators. Persistent Server Settings The server saves runtime configuration inside: Code: settings_runtime.lua Persistent options include: Damage • Destructive Weather • Heavy Mode • Lightning • Hail • Wind • Storm Cells • Shelter • Flooding • Aquaplaning • Debris • Aftermath Effects These settings persist across server restarts, weather phase changes and late joins. Runtime Limitations Because the system interacts directly with the active BeamNG map, some features depend on how that map has been created. Dynamic Flooding Requires existing WaterPlane or WaterBlock objects. Dynamic Road Grip Requires compatible TerrainBlock asphalt materials. Visual Road Wetness Requires identifiable DecalRoad, MeshRoad or road-related material objects. Unsupported maps may still receive physical wet grip even when the reflective road effect is unavailable. Forest & Groundcover Movement Depends on map objects supporting physics ground wind or ForestWindEmitter. Map-specific object names can be configured using: Code: settings/ashWeather/levels.json Download / Source Code GitHub: github.com/ashmaker000/BeamMP-Dynamic-Weather-Survival Latest Releases: Download Dynamic Weather Survival Development Status Dynamic Weather Survival is actively being developed. Expect features, weather behaviour, synchronization and performance to continue changing as the project develops.
