Why is copyrighted material banned here?

This rule is absurd. All the other modding websites, such as NoGripRacing, RaceDepartment and the rFactor 2 forums allow RL items. This is why content is so scarce on this site.

 

Would you like it if you designed a logo for your company and then people started ripping it off without permission? I don't think so. This also has nothing to do with content, anyone who isn't an idiot can simply come up with an alternative to a logo or something in about 5 minutes.

I think you're misunderstanding the rule. If it's content that you didn't make, then you need permission to use it.
If you did make the content, and it contains copyrighted materials, I.E. advertisers such as Martini or Gulf, or a real car such as a Volkswagen Scirocco, then it won't be allowed onto the repository unless the branding or copyrighted material is removed or changed.
You can still upload content you made if it contains copyrighted material to the forums as an attachment. That's how several recent mods have been uploaded.
The reason why content is scarce, as you put it, is that the community is relatively small compared to juggernauts like Skyrim and Fallout. Making mods for BeamNG is also significantly more time-consuming and requires more specialized knowledge than most games. As many of the mod authors here can testify, it's neither quick nor easy to make a good mod.

Actually, you can. Originally, the Forum Rules didn't contain any information about bumping threads. Nadeox himself stated that he doesn't think old threads being bumped is a big problem. However, so much buggery was going about how bumping a thread is the sin of sins, that the line saying "Do not bump threads except necessary" was added to the Forum Rules.

 

I'm not sure any car manufacturer would like their brand associated with a game whose main selling point is wrecking cars...
