I've said it before in my own thread but online multiplayer, and game modes like AI races (think Midtown Madness) and driven to destruction style events would really bring this game into it's own. There is so much potential here to make a great game, instead of just a great physics sim. I'm not exactly sold on the "story based" path this game is taking, but it's what the Devs are focusing on, and heres hoping it works out and they eventually work on some of the stuff I listed above. Look at how huge GTA5 online is with the variety of vehicle based events (you'll know if you watch the channel Failrace). I'd love for Beam to become that.
im a impatient person, the less i wait the better, going from a Pentium 950 to this was a huge game changer, what used to take a day to render in premiere now only takes around 15sec to a min. also the high clock and efficient prossessors made thing like hosting garrys mod servers smooth even if i let people spawn several hundred models.(source is old and only supports up to 2 cores) i aslo like to run alot of things at the same time, right now im not doing anything gaming or video editing related im using 6gb of ram, with no impact on my performance. i can run sevral virtral pc's in the backround with quad core and 8gb of ram and still game with no FPS drop. my computer is one of the few things in life that dose not dissapoint me geek bench trial 32-bit cpu score between 29,000 and 30,000
Just to clarify: I knew exactly what I was getting into when buying the game, it's WIP, I know. Even though the game has a limited scope right now, as I'm not into role playing and crashing, I've already had a lot of fun just driving in it. It feels right. The thing is, I have the feeling even the devs don't know exactly what they wanna do. "Our goal is to have the best physics etc" but then what? It's awesome, but what can you do with it? Just screw around? Nothing wrong with that, it's just not my style. I played a lot of racing sims online, have a wheel, and the game shows promise, driving-feels-wise. Let's see what they do with that.
if this game becomes any thing like gta online i will hate it and stop playing, gta online has all this unnecessary bs that takes all the fun out, the only times i ever played gta online night and day was with mod menus, and now there gone its just single player with mod menus. the ranking system is horrible, and the dealing with money is horrible, i dont work 10hr shits to come home and feel like im working in a game to have a little bit of fun. i love this game so far because it lets you screw around and make the game what you want it to be. its why garrys mod used to be so popular back in like 2010, all the mods and custom servers and game modes gave you freedom. gta 5 gives you shark cards. SA-MP was really fun, there was some really crazy servers that let you spawn rims on any kind of vehicle along with nos and hydraulics, you could build things on the map, spawn any car my command, and had 100 different teleport locations along with a 300 player count that often maxed out. it was way more fun than i ever had in gta5 but im fairly shure all the good servers are dead now... i miss driving the "DUDE" with 100" rims, that was the best. --- Post updated --- question... when you say "WIP" do you mean whip? like whip, ride, car?
As a matter of fact, 2 years after Race Driver: Grid was released, SEGA released it as an arcade machine. http://segaretro.org/GRID http://www.segaarcade.com/grid I've actually played on the arcade machine multiple times.
Ideally I'd want the campaign to be pretty grindy and have very little restrictions on the kinds of cars you can use as well as parts for the cars that would probably be a bit unrealisticly good but never have the AI use near to the best parts available so that even the worst players would be able to eventually progress with enough grinding. I'm not saying I like the lack of modded servers or the microtransactions however I will say that I do like progression(im not too sure what the ranking system is never played GTA5 tbh) and dealing with money especially in multiplayer games with pvp as it allows people who have no skill but have tons of time(like me) grind to get an advantage over people who play less as well as giving a reason to play. In games WITHOUT progression systems to improve things I just feel like there's no point and its like slamming your head against a brick wall until it breaks and im just unable to enjoy them and end up feeling like I'm wasting my life.

there is a campaign planned at least but TBH I kinda doubt it will be done well unfortunately but multiplayer like you'd want would also be kinda pointless because as with all online games there will be massive skill gaps and gaming is only fun when you are doing well and people dont improve at things very much the online community will quickly fade away until there are only a shrinking base of extremely skilled players and trolls which will drive away the skilled players leaving the online multiplayer as a pointless feature that would have taken tons of time to implement with little improvement to the game.
Sure we are far far away by playing in multiplayer. But would be great having a "race" mode with AI beside the story mode. As someone says endurance races could be FANTASTIC
YES! THIS! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I THINK ABOUT GTA V ONLINE I know its a little bit offtopic, but it bothers me so much. GTA online its not perfect, but rockstar its not allowing modders to fix the game's issues. The only reason why people still play SAMP and MTA its not because GTA SA runs on more computers, but because it allows for full mod freedom. PS: "WIP" means "Work In Progress"
I feel like beamng should be like street legal racing/nfs no limits. A illegal/legal car racing and upgrading game.
on another thread i posted a few odds and ends i wanted to see out of the game, and some guy is getting realy mad at me because i had split screen multiplayer in there. saying its unreasonable becase the game is not optimized enough... is anyone actually having lag problems? because for me this game runs better than wreckfest is these days. (wreckfest in a 24car race used to run 90fps now runs 10-15, this game runs around 40fps with 1 car and 25 fps around 10 cars) i added that last but because if i can already handle that much on screen, and i dont consider 25fps to be lagging considering gtav runs at like 20fps on ps3 some times worse. but form my point of view, whats a second view port? half fps at most? im still on max settings, and theirs already multiple controller support. am i the only one who sees it to be highly reasonable to split screen to be apart of this game?
