If I were to suggest new vehicle options, I have a couple to consider:

-50's/60's French vehicle, 80% of them are weird in some way that would be interesting to see in Beam
-1920s or earlier car/truck, I feel like the functionality of an especially old vehicle from the Edwardian period would be neat
-Eastern bloc weird thing like a Tatra or Trabant/Wartburg, 2 stroke engines are something we haven't really seen in Beam yet, including mods

I've always had these in my head for ideas of new vehicles

    - some long bonnet 2 door coupe piss missile like a Dodge Viper (any generation) or TVR Cerbera
    - highly advanced 90's japanese batmobile like a Mitsubishi 3000GT or any Skyline iteration above the R31
    - 90's supercar (Jaguar XJ220 or Pagani Zonda C12 or something like that)
    - french 90's/early 2000's econobox hatchbacks (Peugeot 106 or 206 or something of that sort)
    - some hilariously underpowered hatchback (first generation Fiat Panda or something)

2,3 and 4 would be impossible to do without affecting performance. BeamNG's vehicles (and props im p sure) are heavily dependent on the CPU. meaning that you'd essentially be spawning more vehicles.
as for 4, please switch into walking mode and press shift+c, then go backwards with the camera. thats what you look like.

the AI stuff, while possible, could also have a slight hit on performance. only weather thing in BeamNG is rain effect (which doesn't do much) and temperature, and maps with multiple seasons usually achieve it by having well, multiple maps for each season.

realistically, i just think they should make the ai better for now before letting it do random stuff. i can see locking the ai to only spawn specific era cars possible, tho.

i think they can make it so if the season is set in fall the vegetation gets yellow, in winter tree models will turn into winter models (if those exist in base game) and ground becomes white, spring is like summer but with bald trees (aka winter model). and on top of that the temperature will change depending on season (would be cool if we could sync weather and all that stuff with our local ones)

Seasons are way to complex to implement.

Adding service vehicles would be really interesting

The problem with locking eras of vehicles is that the simplified traffic base Jbeam is unfit for any vehicle pre 1980

Powertrain Automatic Updates, like this video

As you can see in the video, as the car starts moving, the accelerator pedal is gradually released. This prevents sudden surges caused by high torque or high power.
The same applies during gear shifts. The shifting behavior is similar to throttleCoefWhileShifting, but much more controlled. Essentially, it can be adjusted by percentage for each gear.

No don’t worry about performance, just focus on the realistic traffic!
    --- Post updated ---
No it is more realistic though
    --- Post updated ---
no, just do it, i don’t mind it affecting performance!

You can already change the traffic density in the settings menu, but it could impacts performance heavily. (I run on default traffic density with some pretty good graphics, and on WCUSA I get abt 100-90 fps with traffic. if I were to increase that, then it would be pretty impactful)

on the topic of gauges (wow)
should the SBR4's odometers be less visible when the car is on?
