I got my lower control arm bushes today, might install those on the weekend I was shown a video from a mate driving behind me showcasing what my LCA's were doing and how much the wheels were wobbling around as i went over ruts and bumps. The movement was... Excessive :/ That'll explain why the car loses all composure on anything less than a glass smooth road... Also had to tighten all the oilpan bolts because they were finger loose, that might explain the oil leaks, though it'll never seal because of the sheer volume of grey rtv slathered on the cork gasket. Sigh No pics because there was nothing worth taking pics of
got rear brakes done then blew a rear caliper seal so now i have to wait till my next weekend and re do everything and install new calipers which i should of done from the start in hind sight cause the calipers are old as dirt but they were fine so i was trying to save a buck --- Post updated --- The dealer that did the brakes on it way back whenever didnt put back on the brake caliper bracket shims so the caliper bracket was grinding on the rotor for who knows how long which is probably why the rear rotors looked horrible and were crazy warped, the outside brake pads were worn awhile the inside were fine, and why the calipers and rear wheel bearings failed.(i replaced em) Im sure the heat cause by metal on metal grinding for miles on end and the outside brake pad always being engaged caused crazy heat build up. --- Post updated --- to top it off the battery died so i cant roll the window up cause my jumper pack i had plugged in forever actually never held any charge so its dead and now my interiors gonna get dusty
voyager is ready to go, was going to sell it, annnnnnndddddddddd I rode it, and fell in love. this thing is super comfortable and just chugs along so well. and the straight 6 is also really nice I think it also looks better than gold wings, but I may be a bit biased
Haha, 3 years ago I had a guy coming over to buy my polo. I took it for a last ride annnnddddd changed the brake fluid on it today
Another day another defective part. Installed one new rear caliper in like 30 minuets and it all went together great. Unbox the next new caliper and start removing the driver side old one. Getting ready to install the new one and realize its missing the rear hydraulic parking brake bracket o ring so its just gonna piss brake fluid everywhere when i install it. luckily i was able to to return it get my money back and get a new one but now im still stuck on the rear brakes! smh. Id already be done and driving the freaking car if i could stop getting defective parts!!! i ordered a caliper rebuild kit aswell so incase this new one i get is also bad i can atleast fix it and it wont bring me to a hault
Got new caliper knocked the rest of the work out on my buick last night. Its ready to go outside of the ac still needing to be converted to 134a but now cause of house turmoil and being unsure if i will stil;l have a roof over my head every day im putting it up for sale along with my tools and tool box my next weekend. ugh. Dont mind me i just like lighting my money on fire over and over. Im gonna go to vegas gamble all my money and then live with the sewer people
I changed the oil on my mazda 6. Then i cleaned the interior in the first time since forever. The car got vandalized at a walmart parking lot awhile back by some tweaked out crazy who totally keyed my car, rippied off the window chrome trim on the passenger side horrible. So because the paint and the whole cars trash i dont care if it gets scratched so i went into a automatic car wash for only the second time in my whole life which was kidna of scary. So many giant spinny things and it said hands off the steering wheel while the track thing pulls the car through so i did that but it suddenly half way through cranked my wheel to the right hard and went bang and i hurried up and re straightened it and it was fine but i guess you need to hold the wheel straight
Had to park buick outside Buick got sand blasted by wind. Washed my buick. so i can store it under a car cover i have now during the work week. Found out ac works great i was just using it wrong so dont have to convert it from r12 yet. On the way home Turned off radio rolled windows down and Noticed rear right rotor making light rubbing sound sometimes stop car and notice rub marks on rotor face. Go around block couple times notice it only does it when turning left park in garage give wheel shakedown find rear wheel bearings toast. Installing new hub bearings tomorrow then cruising out of state to buy a lottery ticket because ive never done that before so eh why not.
Did a bunch of work to my R129 Merc, went through the whole front end of the car replaced both lower control arms, struts, tie rods and the center drag link. Car feels so much better afterward and I'm planning on replacing the driveshaft flex discs tomorrow, as well with a differential service since I have some spare MB genuine axle oil on hand from another job
On alot of Mercedes Benzs, save for G-wagons, they do not have traditional u-joints for the rear driveshaft. Instead its a thick and dense rubber disc that the transmission/rear differential bolts up to on their respective ends to the driveshaft. Also shown is what happens when you let it degrade too far (the rubber starts cracking around the bolt holes as a early sign of failure or you will get some driveline shudder/vibrations with acceleration/deceleration).
Replaced I the dash today in my '91 chevy OBS. Recently, I've had it painted, lowered it, changed the wheels, and a bunch of other stuff done... It's basically done at this point, it's come a long way from what it started as.
That is a really nice blue, looks great. How much did the paint job set you back if you don't mind sharing?
