So I've recently gotten into a Wangan Midnight phase, and seeing the cars dart in and out of traffic and drafting each other at 250kph+ is exhilarating. But now I'm wondering, what are the possibilities of a drafting function in this game? Are there any plans for it? And I don't mean a super accurate simulation or anything like that. I mean something similar to GTA 5's drafting system. Just some kind of speed boost. Obviously nowhere NEAR the boost the game gives you (Unless you were drafting a bus) but something similar. Maybe a third of the speed. I dunno, I'm no game designer, this is just an Idea that began floating through my head once I started watching Wangan Midnight again.
The devs like to either do something 100% realistically or not do it at all. So I think they would do it by making it possible to simulate air not just per vehicle but per small area where multiple vehicles can be and each area moves with its vehicle, this way drafting would be possible. But I think that isn't the highest priority right now so it will happen way later in the future, or maybe even never.
i'm pretty sure they've been doing research and experiments on proper aerodynamics for quite a while now, there have been discussions of it probably back in 2016. but yes, it's a very complex thing to pull off with coltris, and they probably won't figure out a usable version soon.
