    seconded on 2080ti
    --- Post updated ---
i get similar framerates when my 2080ti runs out of its 11gb of vram

perhaps try lowering texture resolution and render resolution (reduce vram consumption as much as possible)

It seems it's a bug on the game side. I wouldn't expect new drivers to fix that crash.

The new 531.29 driver even starts lagging the game with normal dx11 after a while on my 2080. I’m rolling back at this moment.

when trying to run the game in Vulkan mode, i get error 0x00000001 on normal mode and 0x0000005 on safe mode

    specs:
    Lenovo Ideapad 3 15iTl05
    Intel Core i3-1115G4
    Intel Iris/UHD Xe G4 48EU Mobile iGPU
(Intel Ark says it's UHD but TechPowerUp says it's an Iris Xe, and the drivers on Intel's website are for Iris Xe so i'm not really sure what it is)
12Gb RAM + 6Gb shared VRAM (issue also happened with 8Gb of RAM)
256Gb Samsung NVMe (76Gb free, but issue also happened on external PNY 480Gb SSD with 300Gb+ free)
Windows 11 Home 22H2 (no updates pending)

game runs perfectly with DXVK and i get around 30fps on WCUSA on low (not lowest) settings

I've already tried updating drivers, reinstalling the game, even tried on Windows 10 and Windows 11, reinstalling drivers and nothing worked.
beamng-launcher.log is when trying to launch on safe mode and beamng.log is on normal vulkan mode

just chiming in, ryzen 7 3700x 32gb ddr4 3600 and 4070ti, running 1440p 120hz and ultra graphics settings. when driving around my fps is barely above 70. that seems super low. vulkan safe mode works but only gets 10fps

Hello everybody, I´d like to share my experience with Vulcan, since after a recent switch from a rtx 3060 12GB to a rx 6700xt by fps have been very low with only +-60% gpu utilization. Using Vulcan, the fps have been increased drastically and utilization went to 99% (went from 40-45 fps to stable 60 fps in the same scenario). However, spawning traffic caused crashes.
On the first attemt, it spawned the cars after over two minutes and crashed right after, the second time it crashed while spawning them. The first error code was the generic one, but the second time it gave me the "status stack buffer overrun" error. After trying a third time, it spawned the cars, but crashed a few seconds later, again with the generic error. Went into safe mode, manged to spwan cars in, clicked on "ultra" graphics settings and after like 2 min of the game doing nothing (frozen), it crashed again with the "status stack buffer overrun" error.
    My settings: UWQHD Ultra
    My specs: X570 MPG/ R5 5600/ RX 6700XT
Software: WIN10 PRO; all drivers and bios up to date

TLDR: If you love BeamNG, have a nvidia gpu and think about upgrading to AMD, don´t :/

Updated the first post with issues.
Vulkan got some small updates, it will now work on the latest NVIDIA Drivers.

Is there any way to launch the Vulkan mode through Steam? I want to try the Vulkan mode on my Steam deck, but launching through the Steam deck skips the menu and the ability to select Vulkan. Tried using "-vulakn" in the Steam 'launch options' but that did not work.

There isn't. You can add it as a non-steam game though.

You can add -gfx vk in the launch arg.

Vulkan runs now for me, no major graphical glitches or crashes anymore, so big improvement on that side.
Biggest issue I have is that running West Coast with one car I only get 20 fps as opposed to 50 in the same location with the regular renderer.

    Shallow water is broken:

Seems to be caused by some kind of black plane moving directly below the regular water plane:

    My PC:
    GTX 1060 3GB, newest drivers
    CPU i5-8400 2.80GHz and
    16 GB Ram

    The issue you’ve noticed:

Interactable boxes on vehicles seem to get more laggier and harder to trigger the higher your graphical settings are. Bringing down graphical settings reverses the bugs and restores the smooth functionality of the interactables. Issue also occurs in Vulkan safe mode + debugging, never had this issue occur on regular DX version of Beam.

After further investigation it seems like this only occurs when the FPS is above 60 on ULTRA graphics preset.

Edit, according to another test which was performed in Video3.mp4 while lower settings do bring the smoothness back, without the FPS limited to 60 the interactables sometimes cannot be triggered despite being lit up green. All in all, one thing is for sure and that is that the boxes are very janky with FPS higher than 60 and the higher your graphical settings are which I don't recall being a problem on DX Beam. It seems like this definitely has something to do with the FPS being above 60 and the game not handling interactables well because of it. Fix for it is to simply limit your FPS.

    This happens when:

Changing your graphical settings, higher settings leading to the interactables being more laggy, lower settings making them smooth again.

    My specs are:

    OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 19045.2846, 22H2)
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X Six-Core Processor (12 CPUs), ~3.6GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
    RAM: 16 GB
    GPU Driver Version: 31.0.15.3179

I've been using vulkan for a while without issue as a workaround for performance issues on Linux. About a month ago it stopped working completely with a "0x00000001" error on launch. Today I found that disabling steam overlay resolves this issue.

There is quite a lot of data in the console output from steam however directly before the crash I noticed the error handler being loaded for steam overlay so I tried disabling that:

    Code:
05/31 08:38:01 Init: Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(gameoverlayui)/version(20230530213810)/tid(2931528)
05/31 08:38:01 Init: Installing breakpad exception handler for appid(gameoverlayui)/version(1.0)/tid(2931528)
That seemed to resolve the issue.

The full log files for a successful and unsuccessful launch are attached (I think, the form is being weird about attaching text files)

I'm running in proton 6.3-8 as that's the latest version of proton with FFB support at the moment.

    Code:
    OS: Arch Linux x86_64
    Kernel: 6.1.30-1-lts
    Resolution: 1920x1080, 1080x1920, 1080x1920, 1920x1080, 1920x1200
    WM: i3
    Theme: Adwaita-dark [GTK2/3]
    Icons: Adwaita [GTK2/3]
    CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X (32) @ 3.400GHz
GPU: AMD ATI Radeon PRO W6800
    Memory: 49055MiB / 64209MiB
I hope this helps someone or is of interest to the devs. Thanks!

Will forced HDR mode work on Vulkan? Now it works on DX11, please pay attention to this, otherwise for me "api VK" will be unplayable, as well as for other owners of HDR monitors, the picture is very dull....

If you mean Auto HDR feature known from Xbox and Windows 11, that doesn't really depend on us. Microsoft does not support AutoHDR on non-DirectX games normally. The only way to get HDR working on Vulkan is by adding real HDR support.
