We hope you enjoy the new touch to the UI. We are constantly working on improving it Lets collect the problems in this thread, thanks for testing everyone!
The main menu can look a tad too busy against some of the backdrops. It would greatly benefit form the backdrop blur that's going on when in, say, Freeroam. I really do enjoy the new sounds.
Hi, it seems I can`t find the old " wheel" for using light, trailer hitch, etc. Is it normal or is a problem on my side? Except this I think UI has very improved. Nice job David
Hey, just a small request for future updates I guess. Can you have it so it doesn't change your controls because of new features and wanting to add them as it gets annoying so I have no idea where everything is anymore. It's like this in the past as well. -Fm
Please add a customisable button/shortcut bar that can be docked on the right or top. To keep everyone happy! Or even....the seemingly flawless BeamNG controller app with no noticeable latency... Should have an extra page of customisable buttons. Like a stream deck.
im really sorry but it really didnt need a redesign. The main issue is all the fundamental problems and all the complaints we had with the UI still occur. Its still slow, buggy and now its even more clunky with the redesign. Its not great. It makes the game feel more janky to play and it lags the same if not more than the old one (which is the main complaint we had with the old one). We didnt really want or need a redesign we wanted them resources to be put into making the UI run smoothly like it does in many other games. As you can see by my post history ive never ever disliked a Beam update ever. But the new UI is the first thing that has stood out as a downgrade in all these 8 years of playing. I hope you can understand and take this into consideration.
But seeing how the dev team is split up, maybe all the "technical" guys were busy doing the jbeam of the new car and people were free so they thought "let's redisign it", i think it wouldn't have taken as much time as optimizing it also.
It was a bit hard to get used to in the first minutes, but i think in general it isn't worse than the old one as some people say, but we need the option to mute the sounds. I love the new map, it's very seamless
2 very very important things. Removing the wheel selector is a no go for me, its very very useful on controller, that needs adding back. Please please add an option to mute the UI
I believe the wheel selector is still there just press down on the left stick. Brings it up for me at least.
One suggestion I got is I think clicking on the Main Menu button should bring you out of the map like before, so that the game doesn't lag the UI you are trying to interact with. --- Post updated --- You now have to press E to open it...
there should at least be an option to have it so it opens automatically, its annoying having to press a key to launch it Edit: well E isnt working :/
the updated traffic ui is weirdly screwed up. i cant resize it, or toggle it off for interior view. also, its way harder to start driving with a ui like the traffic app. the game defaults your controls to that ui, so going up or down, shifting or doing anything wont affect the car, but the menu itself. its annoying and hard to get back to driving. other then that bug, its been quite a surprise. i did not expect that and its looking good id say. the map view itself is wowowow oh mama its so good. thank you devs.
Tbh the idea of separating radial menu from main menu isn't too bad in itself, you never use both at the same time anyway. But it will take a while to get used to it.
If you guys are really looking at revamping the UI, you should really consider switching over to using a completely different framework/API you use to render them since CEF is a not so great solution especially for a game like BeamNG which is very CPU intensive.
