A good solution could also be if they'd preserve the old assets and leave them in the game. So then there would just be a new asset that is essentially the same building/thing, but is just the new version. That would leave the old assets exactly the same and would cause no issues as far as I'm aware... That is probably the route the devs will go. But maybe they have another strategy. However they do it I'm sure they have thought of this problem as they are aiming to keep mod support to their best capabilities.
Alright, I think it's time to talk about this. What is the role of the Automation Test Track in BeamNG.Drive? I know that it was added alongside the exporter for obvious reasons, but the thing is, it is considered an Automation map bundled with the base game rather than a standard BeamNG.Drive map. Things to note: Shows Automation logo in the level selector instead of the BeamNG official content logo, therefore it is not considered to be BeamNG content. Did receive two official scenarios and a number of time trials. Did not receive any official vehicle parts/configurations related to it, even though it was a never before seen country (New Zealand). Likely significantly bound by contracts between Camshaft and BeamNG regarding what can and cannot be done with the map. Will probably not appear in career mode due to the previous reason. What are your thoughts on what will happen with the Automation Test Track in the future?
I wondered, how will career mode use all the maps? Would it be like FH4? Just go to a certain location to teleport to an another map?
I imagine the maps available in freeroam could be teleported to by approaching the blocked off highway exits/ports/airstrips. Anything like Derby Arena the player would just spawn at whatever track an event is taking place at.
This update is cooking up to be one of the best ones yet. Maybe even better than when they released Italy. But for now, all we can do is wait. The update could be tomorrow, or it could happen next month. All that i care is that we dont get a filler update like 0.16. Now call me whatever you want, but i think im not the only one that was dissapointed by that update.
Oh boy This screenshot was taken a couple of seconds ago, not a copy of the one a couple of pages back https://steamdb.info/app/284160/depots/
0.16 wasn't really a filler update. Electric vehicle support was pretty important, and the Italy polish was much needed. Vehicle remodeling is important in the long term and the audio improvements were much needed. If we're talking about filler updates, 0.14 was a far better example. 0.13 minus the Automation content could also be considered a filler update. 0.17 is likely to top 0.15 as the most substantial update in ages, as it will bring much needed map upgrades, and possibly the Gavril Bluebuck and/or traffic. --- Post updated --- The whole game needs a proper day/night cycle with proper lighting and such, and don't get me started on weather.
I would be shocked if traffic came out in 0.17, it just doesn’t seem like it’s “there.” At this point, I’d also be pretty surprised if we didn’t get the Bluebuck, given all the teasers.
TDev teased traffic awhile ago, and since then brought Gull on the team. I'm sure we will at least see groundwork for traffic.
I would enjoy the ability to put way points on the GPS with a system with a voice, and I'd gladly voice a GPS for a mod
You've just reminded me of one of the major things BeamNG needs: Street Names. That's it. It would make referring to locations much easier and add more depth to the world.
