They pretty much are. I have one from my grandpa’s ‘37 Ford on my wall and it’s a good 5 inches deep.
Guys, 0.17 is gonna be a summer sweep update where old content gets a good refresh. The bluebuck was old and started in 2013, and east coast USA was also one of the first maps.
I've been jokingly calling this update "The Equalizer". Hopefully, this update brings all cars and maps to the same quality. As of now 8 cars have been updated out of the current 24, however more recent cars may not need updates. The Bluebuck is nice, but even without it this would still be one of the best updates to date. I noticed something, however. In 0.15, they updated some "Outdated Level Thumbnails". The levels in question were JRI, Utah, and Cliff. Many other thumbnails and levels are quite outdated, like Derby Arenas, Port, Small Island, Industrial Site, East Coast, USA, and Hirochi Raceway, yet all of these did not receive updated thumbnails. The first 5 maps on this list are confirmed to be getting map upgrades. This may be because they aren't updating the thumbnails until they update the maps. Thus, this is reasonable evidence that the map upgrades may only be for these six maps. Confirmed updates for the former 5 maps. Port: Small Island, USA: Industrial Site: Derby Arenas: East Coast, USA: There is no confirmation for Hirochi Raceway, but due to the fact that it's thumbnails were never updated, and it was released alongside ECA, it would make sense that it would be updated alongside it.
I'm glad the the default industrial BeamNG buildings are getting refreshed. They looked too bland and all-brick before.
All that seems to have changed on those maps is the foliage, textures, and new decals. Hopefully those maps are far more detailed now, as those screens were released in 2018.
I would say that its better to just blend all the small maps like industrial, port and the derby arenas toghether into a medium map that resembles a large abandoned industrial complex.
Most of those pictures came from a Map Updates/Italy Showcase DevBlog (East Coast one is a seperate post) https://blog.beamng.com/blog/page/4/
That's a reference to the Bolide's awful handling in the early days of Beam. It's also mentioned in some WCUSA graffiti.
I know. Curious if "Antonio Civetta" is the founder of Civetta, like Vincenzo Bello was to Autobello.
You mean all cars. I remember those days. The Covet was the best traction vehicle back then and even still it had the same performance as the current Bolide's. Source: "Played Beam in 2015".
The skin is current, but those worn-out whitewall tires are definitely an addition - I'd say that you've hit the nail pretty squarely on the head here. It's a pity that there aren't rusty steel wheels to match though. This is interesting too - anyone care to speculate on the meaning of this mysterious orange trim?
I’m glad the Moonhawk is finally getting a well-deserved better variant. I really hope other vehicles have better variants added, it gives the car character, and in my personal opinion, it’s fun to thrash a trashy car.
Beater configs are another thing I hope gets a real overhaul. The Covet beater is just a beater, so thats fine. But the Moonhawk and Barstow take the place of beater, demo derby car, and dirt racer all in one for some reason. Seeing proper demo derby cars like in the realistic derby car mod would be a dream come true.
