If they want to please the "we want normal/sports cars" crowd while still bringing in a new niche I think a RX-7 expy would do the trick. Popular sports car with the uniqueness of the Wankel engine.
That, or a '50s-'60s front-engine V12 GT car (something similar to the Ferrari 250 GT or Lamborghini 350GT) to fit into the Italy map. If the devs can't get V12 sounds (which is likely one of the reasons the WL-40 has the Belasco V8 instead of a V12), there's always the option of going with a "muscle GT" car (something similar to the Monteverdi High Speed, Gordon-Keeble GT, or Bizzarrini Strada). We've already got a fair few big V8s to drop into them, and this muscle GT could have all-wheel-drive (like the Jensen FF). It probably would be too close to the Barstow and a bit too niche for the devs to add, though.
Or a classic English sports car, like an Aston Martin DB5 or Jaguar E-Type, we have American, Japanese, German, French, Italian cars but no British cars. The British really made come iconic cars before they gave up.
No, it was a post from TDev just after Italy released. It must have been deleted at some point... He mentioned some things specific to Italy map they wanted to add but never got around to, some sort of airport vehicle was one of them
I know the SBR got a refreshed not so long ago, but it would be nice if it could be redone more heavily to give it more configurations and a less silly look. Maybe break up the EV and non EV configurations into two different cars as this isn’t very inline with how the industry works. Although what I would love to see is the dev having fun and creating a mix car between the rx-7 and the mx-5. But I doubt we will see any sort of sport cars introduced until they get around to update the tire physic.
I honestly hope they add some modern commuter cars. Simple ones though, like a modern Corolla or a modern Landrover. Somewhat filler vehicles as we need some more variety for the modern vehicles, and make them vehicles sold in many different markets so no one is left out. A Landrover is perfect for the modern SUV neash as it’s sold in Europe and North America. Same with the Corrolla but the Sunburst kinda fills those shoes.
I can't wait till they have a boat or... A plane. Or. Tracked vehicles or..- *someone bonks me on the head to calm down* --- Post updated --- Weather. *Out cold*
As per this post in the audio thread, I'd assume that to mainly be a matter of justifying the cost for an off-the-shelf set of V12 recordings.
There was V12 badging for the K-Series for a while, and Automation has V12 sounds (and even V16 sounds), so it's possible that the devs have a V12 on their minds. After all, the Gavril V8 for the BX and side doors for the H-Series happened, and those were talked about back in 2012. It took nine years for a V10 to be added to the game (Scintilla, more than three years ago) - we probably won't have to wait another six years for a V12, but it'll probably be a while. Honestly, a "Range Rover" would bang out a lot of niches at once (modern SUV, ultra-luxury vehicle, British vehicle, new off-road-focused brand, some new off-road drive systems (or improvements to the ones from the Tograc)), but based on what happened to the Hopper and Wigeon, I wouldn't be surprised if a BeamNG Range Rover became a Japanese vehicle. A Range Rover would also be simpler to implement than a modern Expedition, since there would be no need to have a pickup truck counterpart. As for a "Corolla", I think the FCV and Sunburst have the "modern compact car" niche covered quite well, tbh. I can't really see the devs making a third modern compact when there's so many other segments to cover. That's one of the possibilities I have in mind for 0.39 - either the SBR gets remastered (being the last modern vehicle to not be remastered/refreshed), or the Barstow/Moonhawk do. I'm leaning more towards the former, since modern vehicles are very common in the spring. I don't think the SBR's getting a major re-style, but it'll probably get some model touch-ups in its refresh. As for that mixed sports car, the devs have been tending to lean towards making vehicles based on one specific model (or adjusting older vehicles to more closely match one specific vehicle). So, I feel like a new sports car would be either an "RX-7" or an "MX-5" (or any other sports car, for that matter), and not a mix of the two. That makes sense. This would go bigly hard - also, probably one of the few vehicles from the Lane Motor Museum I could see being added to the game. However, I think it's a bit too large to practically be used in the game - the big Hirochis can't fit under the time trial start boards, and they're also a lot narrower than a LARC-LX. Beam doesn't officially support more than one engine for a vehicle, AFAIK (which is one of the reasons why hybrids aren't a thing officially). However, the LARC-V uses only one engine and is about the same size as the Wentward, so I could see that being added to the game.
If they give us a modern SUV/truck, I would like it to be a RIVIAN R1T/S as a successor of the Gavril D-series/Roamer.
That would be hilarious to see. Although I'm not sure how well it would do in-game since the whole body is plastic, and as of yet big plastic parts kinda don't have their own separate physics. They often just bend like all the metal does instead of snapping into small pieces.
Definitely deep in wishful thinking territory with this one, but then the question would be how many rotors? --- Post updated --- I mentioned this a couple times on the Discord, but I'd love a 21st-century B-seg hatch - something with '00s or early-'10s styling, a smaller footprint than the Sunburst and FCV, and more modern 4-lug wheels.
I would personally love to see them do their own spin on the '90~'96 Mazda/Eunos Cosmo since it came with the option of both the two rotor 13B or the three rotor 20B. Although I really just want a rotary sports car that can be bridgeported to be honest.
While that would be neat since it would function a lot like a very big wydra, I think the team could if they really tried, to go bigger( like Big Muskie levels of big). impractical, yeah most maps are too small for a dragline that big but a man can dream. Would love to see big muskie honored fully complete digitally at least, shame all we have left is the bucket. I wouldn't mind a quarry site with a non usable version just to honor it. sorry if it's a little off topic.
I would like to see the Wydra with a 8x8 configuration with the big wheels version with a trailer connected with a driveshaft powering the trailer's wheels like they did with the WL-40. The trailer could have many upfit like logs trailer, passengers, fluid tank, ambulance or small containers. It could be a amphibious T/MD-series.
