The I-Series is the same size as the E28 5er Bimmer. It's a bit too small for being a 7er and a limo variant wouldn't make sense for an Executive Sedan like this, except in China.
And what about the Crawler variants, with the V8s (plus the Gecko, with the I6)? Those are as American as they can get!
I feel like I remember some dev saying that was outdated early Gabester era BeamNG lore that didn't make sense Also there are Burnside banners at the Johnson valley race course so I'd assume the brand still exists @CrashHavenBNG
That is fair enough. I suppose the Hopper a fair bit more specialized than the other Ibishus - for a long while, the Hopper was the off-road vehicle of choice. For many people, it probably still is. I'm so used to thinking of the Wydra, Stambecco, Aurata, and other barely/non-street-legal vehicles as the off-roaders that the Hopper feels more like a regular car now. As for the new Grand Marshal limo...very nice to see one finally come to the game. Considering Burnside's got various banners for it around the place in present-day, I think it's safe to assume that it's still in business. I think this is going to be a similar situation with the Civettas, where we get a remaster/refresh for the old car (Bolide/Special), then a new car for that brand (Scintilla/limo). The Burnside variants probably won't be a separate car, though, since the Charro, Autobuggy, Covet MR Turbo, Tograc, and Hopper Crawler aren't. (And many of those are far more different from their base vehicles than a '90s Burnside would be from a Grand Marshal.) I am interested in seeing if a Burnside version of the GM will be larger. The '92 Grand Marquis and Crown Vic are almost exactly the same size, while the '90 Town Car is about 17 cm longer with a 7 cm-longer wheelbase. I feel like that difference probably wouldn't be worth the extra development time (and maintenance time afterwards), so a Burnside GM will likely be the same size.
Apparently you still don't play enough BeamNG ( ), because Burnside seems to still exist today. There are banners on the start/finish line of the dirt track in the Johnson Valley map that prove it! So I definitely imagine a more luxurious variant of the Grand Marshal (preferably with a decently different and more baroque body design - opera windows, squareback vinyl-padded roof, extra doses of chrome and all) under the Burnside nameplate. Not to mention that the Grand Marshal, like the LeGran and the Wendover, is a legit 6-passenger car and it can also be a legit Wagon - and we've yet to see both of these features in the Grand Marshal lore.
I doubt we'll be getting a wagon GM - we didn't get a wagon for either the Miramar or Special in 0.36, and our current trio of wagons were released at least 4 years apart from each other (800 (2016), LeGran (2021), Sunburst (2025)). I dunno why the devs are so averse to making wagons, but I think we're just gonna get the limo. Hopefully, we also get a facelift for the GM (and the Burnside version).
With the Miramar getting 2 unique body styles it gives me hope that we'll see more than 2 body styles for cars going forward. As much as I want a wagon of both of those, the Miramar had a ton of options to choose from and the Burnside did get a few body styles, even if they are all variations of a coupe. For the GM a wagon is the only option that doesn't involve an entirely new body or stretching the wheelbase. Anyway.... Any chance of a JATO ramplow limo now? Or a solid rocket instead of a JATO for a bit extra variety
Yeah that's a bit ridiculous, author should just either release the damn thing or make it paid officially
I'm not convinced it's a limo. It looks like the camera is moving with the car, We haven't seen the rear Wheel or door, which also makes me doubt it
It's a shame, really. The GM platform could get a facelift since the engines powering it span ~3 decades (1986 - 2017) in the BeamNG lore! I think it does, since the Crown Victoria's immediate (and only) competitor, the Caprice/Impala, had an engine larger than the 4.6 - the typical General's 5.7 SBC (plus the smaller 5.0). Just like the Grand Marshal has the 5.5.
now that I look at it, yeah. you only see the front and rear seams of the front passenger door, so its definitely a refresh of the GM, but it is unknown whether there is more car to the left of the camera or the rear wheel. as for retconning the lore of Burnside, I'm fine with that. BeamNG isn't really a story focused game so its not as bad as games like Infinity Nikki retconning their lore.
