I'm aware - I also wouldn't mind getting a modern midsize FF sedan in the game (especially since my dad has owned both a 2008 and 2017 Hyundai Sonata). It's just that, again, the devs probably aren't going to prioritize something like that for a while when there are other, more important gaps in the vehicle roster to fill. Also, with regards to the whole Euro-vehicle discussion, we tend to get new Euro cars or remasters for Euro cars every two years. We got the ETKs in 2016, the Piccolina in 2018, the FCV in 2020, the Bolide remaster in 2021, and the Scintilla and Stambecco/Wydra in 2022. The last major Euro-car content (outside of the Gambler parts) were the ETK refreshes in 0.28, which was over two years ago. I think we could get a new Euro car and/or an I-Series remaster/refresh in the next couple updates. I'm not too hopeful on that happening, though. I feel like the devs would be more likely to do remasters/refreshes of the Moonhawk and/or Barstow, just to get them out of the way before moving on to whatever they have planned next year. I'm quite curious why the Euro cars seem to be rather inconsistent when it comes to new content for them. We've had at least one new Japanese vehicle or major piece of new content for a Japanese vehicle every year since 0.15 (eSBR and Hopper Crawler (2019), Covet parts (2020), Pigeon remaster/Wigeon and '96 Pessima remaster (2021), Covet remaster (2022), Aurata (2023), BX remaster and '88 Pessima/SBR kits (2024), Sunburst/Miramar remaster/refresh (2025)). I think they're waiting on tire thermals before adding a bespoke race car (and those types of vehicles tend to have lower customization potential than a production car, so there would have to be a strong reason to make one of those over a regular street car). With how long tire thermals are taking, it'll probably be quite a few years before we see, say, a modern stock car or a Formula car. The devs could add a bespoke dirt-oval racer, but I feel like the current production-based dirt racers are probably good enough for them at the moment.
Are they even still working on tire thermals? I haven’t heard anything about it in a little over a year.
AFAIK, the last mention of tire thermals from the devs was in the 0.27 devblog in December of 2022. There may have been something later. I presume they're still working on them - if they weren't, they would've said something about it (like how they said they had cancelled development of the dyno many years ago).
Yes - it was cancelled because it proved to be too unstable. Here's what it looked like: https://www.beamng.com/threads/dyno.57300/
^ This. We have plenty of talented modders here already filling a lot of the desired niches too, both lore-friendly and otherwise.
I kinda wish it stayed around so I could inconvenience myself every time I need to see how much horsepower I have instead of using a UI app.
Such car would also have influences from its GM counterpart, Opel Kadett C. IIRC that generation of Kadett also had shortened version called Kadett City which was Opel's answer to Fiesta until it was replaced by Corsa. You could probably take out two birds with one stone this way. And I believe it was also briefly sold in US, so USDM version isn't far fetched. But when it comes to rally cars, I wonder if smaller 80s ETK (think E30) is viable. While it would be lighter and nimbler than I series, it would also need to be a different bodystyle, as 4 door sedan would be way too close to I series (Wendover was a sedan until devs decided it was way too similar to LeGran), so maybe some kind of two door sedan (E30) or coupe (B2 Coupe). I series would also need a few changes, TTSport Evo wouldn't make sense anymore but I think that it could be replaced by some sort of Rennspecht version, either with larger twin turbo 6 cylinder (Alpina B10 BiTurbo) or V8 (AMG Hammer/E60).
the only modern sedan that would be actually different is a subcompact (A or B segment) shitbox like a Mirage G4 or the Chevrolet Aveo sedan.
