I wonder if we would be getting a 90's and 2000's T series in a future update?, the real-life 9000 series ran through to 2017 with basically the same cab. Just add a more aerodynamic bonnet plus bumper and bob's your uncle and Fanny's your aunt. The T series is the best vehicle when it comes to filling year gaps as trucks didn't change too much, one example I can give is the International now Iveco ACCO, they built them on the same basic cab from the 70's until fairly recently.
Yeah, adding a center head light would be easy but the hard part would be getting it to not only turn with the steering wheel but to shut off automatically when dead center like the real thing as well, that and the whole rear engined rear wheel drive flat six. (better off making the car from scratch and naming it the walker rocket((mafia 2 reference). Of course I was thinking more along the lines of a modern interpretation but I can really only see like a failed revival attempt really like lets say mid 90s-early 2000s since that era was big on retro styling.
I'm not sure if TrackPad is still working for BeamNG - if he is, then yeah, I could see an official forklift being a thing (he did make one as a mod). The devs have been leaning more into making their vehicles closer to reality than they were before ~2018 (a good example is the T-Series losing its amber indicators, as a US truck wouldn't have them for cost savings), so I don't quite know if they'll do more "what-ifs" in the future. Considering that the FCV is for sale in WCA's dealerships, it probably got sold over in the US already (although the devs could just be leaving it as an option due to the FCV's popularity and the lack of any major competition for it outside of the ancient Sunburst). Yep, I've already mentioned that - it's quite fascinating to see that place finally get some love after all these years. Dunno what'll go there, but it looks like it'll be a massive thing to mess around in. While I would love to see this, I don't quite know if the devs will be doing this for the T-Series. I feel like they'd make a modern Euro truck as their "post-millennium semi" instead of updating the T-Series with some new parts.
I've noticed something that has been overlooked: Both cargo boxes and the tanker container have signs related to forklifts.
on the topic of industrial machinery, no one's mentioned that in this post by krallopian, he explicitly mentions "construction equipment" (emphasis mine)
To be fair, the devs have mentioned multiple times before (either implicitly or explicitly) that they'd like to include construction equipment as vehicles in the game - although I think that hauling construction equipment will probably be just hauling those old excavator models around instead of fully-modeled excavators.
I totally agree, i was also hoping for more engines and tuning options, I mean there is only one engine block and no way to adjust the ecu. It sounds great though and has quite some power
The most they did was add interiors and remaster some buildings (which is already a very good thing) I think Belasco City needs to be remastered/expanded, it seems a bit small for a big city
It should be here eventually and I wonder if it was planned a year or two ago considering West Coast USA has metro railways running through the Belasco City area, so we might be getting subways and/or trains.
i would be really surprised if we get real trains, i think there would be 3 types of ways they could add it, but each has its drawbacks and issues. 1. Real vehicle train, one which you would spawn yourself and you control it like the modded one. It Would take a lot of time, especially if they want full dev quality, lot of research and something i feel like is out of scope for beamng. It would also mean the railways would have to be adjusted so they work with the train. 2. Also real train, but incorporated into the map, you dont control it. It would work with physics and would have predefined path probably (would probably ruin performance a bit, which i think is really a big issue with west coast, there is only so much more they can add before needing to raise minimum requirements) 3. and the third, probably the most easiest, and lightest on performance would be preanimated train (which i have in my up coming map ). Sadly, currently animated meshes have no collision (i think one dev mentioned its something they want to make), And is a bit weird to setup, and doesnt look the best We might get construction vehicles one day, but i feel like there are quite a few things stopping them (if i had to guess, we might transport them only) 1. Usage: you would have "no real use" of a construction vehicle, maybe crushing cars would be cool at first, but would get boring quickly, especially as they are usually really slow, would get boring to most people real quick. "Only" good usage would maybe be loading rocks that you spawn, into a trailer or such, but currently no interaction with the world/map (and i dont think that will change soon). (would be cool for some missions tho) 2. The amount of time required to make them, all the research and development time, and some machines, like excavator for example, would probably be really heavy on performance. I could see them adding forklifts tho, they would (i think) be more simple to implement (compared to some others). Forklifts could be used for truck delivery missions, but it would probably make it too inconvenient and time consuming from gameplay perspective (would also probably get boring quickly). (maybe also cranes)
And SnowRunner, which has a great system where you can pick between loading cargo up yourself or having it spawned onto your truck. Considering how rapidly BeamNG is catching up to Snowrunner in terms of missions, trucks, and cargo, it won't be too long until this is the case for Beam, too. The big, big advantage that SR has though is terrain deformation.
You Say slow things would be boring , but i would think not , especially if it's a Wright brothers plane
