and if you wanted to implement nanite onto vehicles, I'm not sure how you'd go making it co-operate with the flexmesh system, both constantly feeding the jbeam info to the constantly changing meshes, and keeping the mesh actually bound to the node groups in a stable manner.
They have thought about porting to UE4, but decided that its not worth the time, there probably also wouldnt be much benefits other than graphics. (Source: Here and Big Bold Letters Here) Porting to UE would also cause more issues than benefits, they have heavily modified the Torque engine, everything they custom made would be gone, most UE games have less mod support, modding would probably become much harder, and all current mods would be outdated. UE is also bit bloated, while it may be more easier on GPU's, it will probably be much heavier on the CPU. And the devs will also have to learn UE, which will take lot of trial and error.
I have to say, their whole "whole" project, say from the birth of RoR till today is like 18 years... wow such a long time span to see the project grow with a big community.. can't wait to see all aspects of development grow. and most of us know, tdev and the team are not pushing unreal so thats that. however we can only wait till vulkan pushes through.. and the optimization/graphical phase will pull through
I'm hoping for a teaser this week? Even "Some spare part from something new" like in the photo will suffice:
I'm surprised at the complete and utter lack of speculation about the side-by-side. what variants do we think they might add? will there be a utility version? a crew cab variant? facelifts? modifications for these have become insane in recent years, some people have taken to converting LS3s or Hellcat V8s into them: and things like this monstrosity exist: and most importantly, what brand will it be? FPU? Hirochi? something Canadian?
I would guess that its going to be FPU maybe? to extend the FPU brand, so it has 2 vehicles like the SP, and real life brands that make cars like wydra also seem to make side by sides and such vehicles. I wonder if we will get abomination configs, like this f1 inspired UTV
May be worth pasting this from Discord to aid in the SxS discussion. I wrote this a week ago: “Just rode in a side by side (Polaris Turbo R) for the first time and feel hyped enough to write this. Sporty models can kick it upwards of +200hp but many range from 50-100hp for utility usage and rough trail cruising, many have rwd+awd and are belt driven (no gear shifting similar to a go-kart), low range and high range gear modes are usually both features, their mass ranges from 1,300lbs-2,000lbs (600kg-900kg), high end models can have suspension tuned by the dial of a knob (some even have active/reactive suspensions), ride-height is adjustable on many models, utility oriented SxSs typically have towing features, and some have an electrically driven winch. Many boast about lights, GPS units, and other techie features facilitated with getting an off-road toy. As for speculation, I imagine inspiration will be taken from many of these features. Again, I think winches will be part of this update since tdev’s mention of introducing ropes didn’t make it to 0.29. No mention of deformable terrain for a while. Dirt appearing on vehicles had already been acknowledged as being highly time consumptuous and therefore likely isn’t being considered for the works in the upcoming updates. The gooseneck does indicate there will be at least mild modifications to the trucks. The ball being in the center of the bed is usual something that can be done after-market. So possibly a customization feature will be available as well as a Beam variant. Alright, all speculationed out at the moment.”
My take is that it will be a new brand and following the line of content we´ve received in the last couple updates i think we can expect some really funny offroad capabilities with this thing. Of course it would be a absolute no brainer to make handy compact track tool out of it so thats gonna be on board too im sure. In any event it will be thrilling to drive in different enviroments and im glad its coming to the game finally!
i think its probably an fpu or sandstorm performance the teaser with the gooseneck showed it but it was blocked by the sun from that image it looks to be less utility so i would have to say it a sandstorm performance if there were 2 of them and one was more like the mahindra roxor or the john deere gator then it would possibly be an fpu because it seems they make utility vehicles the thing about people swapping engines from other cars into it we might be able to see a bastion engine in it because it seems the devs are warming up to the idea of official engine swap like with the pigeon and widgeon or the gambler cars if not the bastion engine i could see them allowing us to put an ibishu engine in it if it doesnt have one becuase this is most likely to be a sandstorm performance and i dont think they build their engines in house
