If beam ng ever start doing dlc s I will be bummed because it’s just a gate way towards focusing on dlcs and the stuff that goes in it rather then revolutionizing the tech they created
I doubt they'd ever completely shift toward only doing DLCs. Even if they were to start making them, I think they'd probably be car addons or new gameplay elements and maps and stuff. I don't think they'd ever completely focus on DLCs and they'd probably keep updating the base game but add a few DLCs to make the game more entertaining. And, this being more of a simulator than a game, I can't imagine the DLCs ever adding so much people feel like they're obligated to pay. I can't imagine Beam going the War Thunder route where you're really missing out on a lot if you won't spend $50 on a single DLC. It'd probably be things like large car packs, maps, maybe weather cycles, stuff like that. But, it's hard to say. I've been surprised by this game over and over again so it's really hard to imagine what these DLCs might consist of, but I seriously doubt BeamNG would just let the base game collect dust and only work on DLCs like other games on the market right now.
Why's that? What's the worst that could happen? I have faith in the devs. If they've kept the price of the game the same since like release. So if their intention was really making as much money as possible the price would be higher and there'd already be tons of DLC. So I personally believe that if they make DLC, it's not gonna be what they spend all their time on and you probably wouldn't lose out on too much if you didn't buy it. Personally, I plan on buying the DLCs (if there are any) for myself and my friends if any comes out.
Tire thermals overhaul also means that tire particles and tire degradation/wear have to be taken into consideration too. Even if we still don't have reactive environments and road surfaces (on which tire particles play a major role), tire particles and degradation/wear would be a major leap forward to upgrading BeamNG's physics.
To be really honest with ya, i can´t really imagine this game having DLCs. My guess is that it will stay with free updates especially since we are universums ahead of a proper released game. --- Post updated --- My favourite greek here again to tell ya nothing but the truth. How awesome would that be to get that sort of stuff when the physics system evolves further!
Awww, I'm blushing! I'd love to drive a modern, porky, squatty, Midsize Performance SUV and smoke some expensive SportPlus 2R compound within 25km of madman backroad driving to see my favourite German friend laughing smug at me in his delicate ETK 846 ttSport+! This would be quite the honor! As for what BeamNG costs, I wouldn't mind seeing its price rising up to $30 or even $40, because it's still an amazing value for money for the boatload of work these devs put in. And the driving joy this game offers to a petrolhead like me is irresistible. Once I grew up enough to hear about BeamNG and start discovering what it includes and offers to the players, no Triple A car game can be capable of giving this joy to me anymore. As for DLCs, I wouldn't mind seeing and buying them either but, as an ancient Greek phrase says, all things in moderation. In other words, with the laughable (for lack of a better word) direction this type of content has taken in the gaming industry, the BeamNG devs have to be smart in their offerings.
My favourite greek here again to tell ya nothing but the truth. How awesome would that be to get that sort of stuff When you tell me about that Performance SUV fantasy there comes this to my mind of course!
BeamNG isn’t worth more than 40$ right now. Normal people (the kind of people who left a negative review on steam because cars are too hard to handle) won’t be impressed with the game at 40$ --- Post updated --- They should add repo if you lease your car and can’t pay the bills cuz you suck at racing one day you’ll log in and your car will just be gone
Man, that's my favourite Performance SUV too! The M157 5.5 Twin-Turbo V8 is a Schwarzwald beast of an engine, better than the M177 in my opinion. But again, the M177 has the better gearbox. The ML63 brings us to this: the 4.4 ttSport V8 in the Twin-Turbo "550 ttSport" and "600 ttSport" ECU guises would be great in a car like this in BeamNG. And the 8-Speed Automatic (preferably with the Heavy-Duty Locking Torque Converter) would do wonders for its performance. I'd also like to see an 8-Speed DCT though, although that would be more suitable to a Supercar SUV from Civetta.
I would also like them to improve, or copy, the program for the 8-speed automatic gearbox of the Bruckell Bastion. When driving normally, in any gear, the EtK's gearbox behaves as if it were in the first three gears, i.e. the torque converter is unlocked when the speed put the engine speed below the idle speed. Like this, the converter can slip into 8th gear. And the converter will lock again until you reach the right speed instead of downshifting, like the Bastion is doing. And it was not fixed with the refresh.
Tbh, I don't really notice any strange behavior apart from the Bastion's 8-Speed upshifting and then downshifting when trying to reach 100 km/h on Cruise Control, sometimes. That's a bit weird when we consider that even the NA 5.7 V8 engine has plenty of torque down low (on the other hand though, maybe the 2.62 rear final drive of the 5.7 Sport is just too tall for it and the 6.5 Sport GT - the 3.07 one of the 5.7 Luxe/5.7 Luxe AWD variants is much more appropriate). The ETK 8-Speed is better in that respect.
I often like to drive vehicles at normal speeds, but it's especially when you shift gears manually that you can see this problem in the EtK. Look to shift earlier to get the engine at the lowest RPM, and you will feel the converter slip as the RPM sometimes rising at higher RPM than when you were in the previous gear. Logically, the car would downshift automatically, even in manual mode to avoid slipping the converter, and for better economy fuel, like a real car would, but that's not the case with the EtK. With a manumatic gearbox style (PRNDM + and -), only the Bastion does it, and I don't talk about DTC, which is a different automatic gearbox.
Ah yeah, I notice that with the modern ETKs too. The torque converter slips a bit when changing gears at low speeds, probably for making the upshifts feel softer and less abrupt when you accelerate on light throttle. It's normal. As for the auto downshifting on manual mode, I think it does that at 1000rpm or less, but I'll check to make sure.
I just tried the Bastion and the EtK again, and finally both cars are slipping. Strange, I was sure that the Bastion was retrograding correctly.
