I think the UI is one of the few major things that are really holding the game back from its full potential
I hope the devs implement in the future, some new Car Color options like: Pearl Chameleon Metal RainbowChrome Rainbow This would increase the color options and look of the cars dramasticly. (Like in Assetto Corsa with the Custom Shaders Patch configs, which is an Mod and improves the game to a complete new experience) If anyone is interested in how this works in the game, you can have a look at the two posts: http://lucianpainedesign.blogspot.com/2019/10/carpaint-material-tutorial-part-1.html http://lucianpainedesign.blogspot.com/2019/10/carpaint-material-tutorial-part-2.html Because BeamNG.drive is without this feature #literallyunplayable
I actually stopped checking for like a long while until 2020. its been like 10 years since I joined.. But then again, checking, speculating really distracts you from any possible work
now i can't check since i don't play Beam much nowadays, but im pretty sure opening browser ui (i think) in the settings opened it in Internet Explorer the UI might be running on IE6 after all...
Didn't they say they were changing it to a new UI system called "VUE" or something? (not entirely sure lol). I just remember this was probably back around 0.23 / 0.24 sort of time I heard of this being in the works. If somebody could reach for comment from a dev that would be great
They first have to fix the faulty Oil Pans (both the Standard and the Race one) of the Moonhawk. Even with the car standing still and perfectly level, they leak oil and starve the engines like nobody's business. Especially the two largest engines (the 378ci 'Luxe-Eight' and the 448ci 'Thunder-Eight' V8s) are being affected by this the most.
they did, from angularJS to Vue 3. that was mainly to accommodate the overview map and other changes that they planned thoroughly for. UI went running from 30 fps to 60 fps but other things might need a little more consideration considering how things are going. I guess the only reason why the devs are like partially transparent is because a lot of people may get upset over them not being able to fulfill most promises (e.g. dirt or tire thermals that was stated a few updates ago) mainly because "fixing" and correctly implementing a feature takes forever but then again being silent most of the time doesnt help much. I'd kinda wish they'd be more open but that is a double edged sword since it would help keep us informed but people would think otherwise negatively.
Should hopefully be at least a little more responsive and open room for improvement though. After all, anything is better than what we have right now.
Duly noted, but this is more or less just proof we need a more capable UI backbone that can cope with having lots of mods loaded. I'm willing to bet the average BeamNG player's game install has at least 15-30 mods. I have about 90-100 but try and keep it around that figure by deleting ones I don't use anymore (both for storage management and performance's sake) --- Post updated --- Thanks for the explanation. Regarding the UI too, I hope we can have 60fps widgets/UI apps in the future. Things like the tach are jarringly sluggish when coming away from any other driving game. I assume this is a limitation of the apps system though.
I have little idea how a tire thermic can be implemented with this tire geometry...., perhaps the tires need to be redesigned to look like "ACC" first. So that there would be an outer, inner, and center portion of the tire? Then future thermal properties and tire wear can be adequately controlled, rather than trying to make a "whatever" tire. I realize this would require a lot of computing power, but how else? Hopefully, switching to vulkan will free up resources to implement normal tire design. Moreover, now when driving on a flat surface I can feel the impact of these huge triangles of tires on the roadway hitting my steering wheel, as if the wheel is not round, but polyhedral, "that's just the way it is" hits the steering wheel youk-knock-knock-knock-knock-knock-knock-knock..... After all, the game is about cars, and tires are one of the main if not the most important part of the driving experience It seems to me that by ignoring this fact we are digging ourselves a deeper and deeper hole, and sooner or later we will have to redesign the tire model, but how painful it will be depends on how deep we dig, it won't be very pleasant to fix everything after introducing tire thermics, wear, etc. Please support this topic, and I ask the developers to answer about the plans for this, and reassure those concerned about these issues like me. I doubt we will see any new map soon. Johnson Valley was such a step ahead that I don’t think devs would want to release something “cheesier” than that. I mean it’s possible if we get something like a racetrack map earlier or an extension to another map (there is a map of “full” west coast).
