Yeah I do and what's the point? It still makes zero sense for a 70s Bruckell engine bay to look identical to a 60s Gavril one
you stated that the moonhawk (an older car) was thrown together with assets from the bluebuck (a newer car) or am i getting that backwards
It was updated with these assets in this update, did you even read the changelog or look in its engine bay at all
yeah this is a rarity and a big surprise not the norm and even in comparison to other games beams smaller updates are really high quality and content packed. --- Post updated --- i heard that the moonhawk got a new engine, i didn't know it was the same engine from the bluebuck but its also not uncommon in real life, companies like general motors used the same engine in their cars thorough the 60s and70s
Well it's the transitioning stage for the newer graphics updates (FYI AA has been fixed) , ai/traffic, and a lot of other stuffs that require the change of how the back-end stuff works in order for the devs to add/modify how things work. Not having to wait 6 months is great, so just gotta wait and see.. just like the map overview update, it was in the long awaiting list since 2016 (or earlier)
It's not the same engine, displacement is different and name too, but it looks near identical and the entire engine bay around it looks the same. Also Bruckell and Gavril have been confirmed to NOT be a part of a GM-like company.
i see, thank you for the information, it might be place holder till the moonhawk gets remastered that, the special and the T series i feel need updating the most.
If so Id like them to atleast finish up the remaining cars in need of a remaster before moving on Sunburst burnside T-series Ect
It adds collision triangles for the dashboard, and add a inner floor with collision triangles. So the floor have 2 layers. And they remove the door opening collision triangles, (stuff can fall out, like crashtest dummies). I have a lot of cars to add for my CH Dummy 2.0 mod
I think some off-road parts on these 2 cars can do with a bit of a refresh (sheet metal off road front bumper towing eyes (or whatever you call them) doesn’t have physics
I haven't had as much time as I'd like to play with the update but I think it's time anyway to do the look back. As last time I'm going to wait until we get a teaser to fully update this for 0.29: It's worth keeping in mind the devs specifically said that 0.27 was an outlier in terms of size and we shouldn't expect that again. This update was always going to be smaller after 0.27 wrapped up a fair bit of the confirmed upcoming content at the time. Also this update came out about 3 weeks earlier than I expected. Nice surprise there. Vehicle content: Spoiler: Speculation ETK K-Series Remaster: A mild widebody was teased on Jul 12th 2022 but not seen in 0.26. The K-Series, while better quality than many not-yet-remastered cars in game, is possibly the worst for quantity of content and at least some work on remastering her will facilitate any work on her cousin the 800-Series, which is in the same boat in terms on needing a remaster. @CaptainZoll had some notes here about possible K-Series engine additions Update 2023/02/28: Teaser of a modern German engine. There's a teaser for what appears to be a modern hot V engine. See here for a comment from @McBeamer94 which started a larger discussion on this. I personally suspect the top level 800-Series will be one down from the top K-Series since they are cousins but one is a dedicated performance car and the other is a volume car with performance trims, could a form of this engine end up on both cars? Update 2023/03/07: Teaser of a widebody K-Series TT Sport. This appears to be the same mild widebody teased last summer, minus the wing, plus semi-slicks. See here for the start of the discussion about it on the Update Speculation Thread. @esesel provided some fan made concept art here Update 2023/03/28: Teaser Tuesday for 2 cars. Discussion on the update speculation thread starts here This one is a bit weird to me, and I suspect there is more than we realize behind this one. We have a black sedan which seems to be an ETK 84X, the badge looks like it says 844. There is no visible exhaust but the low spec 85X models have a single exhaust which is out of sight from this angle, so that is to be expected. I have a post here taking note of the wheels. The logo looks off to me, more hexagonal than the ETK ellipse. Perhaps it's just the resolution of the photo... The orange car seems to be an 8XX judging by the headlights and fenders, but the proportions are off and the windshield roof rake looks really aggressive to be a 84X or 85X. With a widebody, power bulge, massive sporty wheels, and TTSport brake calipers (Refer to my aforementioned post about the wheels in this teaser) this thing looks like it means business. It's also pretty modern looking, could this be a facelift? More fan made concept art from @esesel SBR remaster: While there's no proper sign of a remaster coming up, @McBeamer94 and @dart have been going back and forth about some new intercoolers for the SBR's engine that are in the files. In order to actually use these the SBR's body would need some changes, which suggests this is possibly next on the list of upcoming remasters. Alternatively, this could be intended only for swapping it into different vehicles, but that seems like a waste of perfectly good intercoolers to me. Post #1 Post #2 Post #3 Moonhawk remaster: Again, no proper sign of a remaster but many speculate that her remaster is next due to the recent addition of a fascia for the pre-facelift. While it is odd that the team added this randomly, the Moonhawk is one of the few cars that has been getting infrequent content attention outside of remasters so I wouldn't put too much emphasis here. Other remasters: The following vehicles have yet to be fully remastered and have not been mentioned above: Burnside '53 Special, ETK I-Series, Gavril Barstow, Gavril Grand Marshall (it was remastered but not to the same scope that current remasters cover), Gavril T-Series, Hirochi Sunburst, Ibishu 200BX, Ibishu Hopper, Ibishu Miramar, Ibishu Pessima mod.1988, Wentward DT40L See this post for some speculation from @CaptainZoll discussing potential heavy equipment additions ETK remaster: Overall this went pretty much as most people expected after we got confirmation that the 800-Series was included in this. Some of the details on the new configs did surprise me, but nothing really worth mentioning here. I haven't had a chance to take as close a look at Rennspecht as I'd like to... It looks like I was accidentally right with my speculation about that weird looking logo on the 844 teaser, just for the wrong reasons. We did get a new company/logo on the ETK's, it just wasn't the one I thought it was. Rennscpecht certainly is a welcome addition to the game, but like most small companies in game we really don't have much information on them. Hopefully all of these smaller brands in game will get some attention soon. The inclusion of a K-Series GT4 is awesome but once again leaves us with a new racing spec class in game that only has one vehicle that properly fits in the class. Hopefully we'll see the team come back to these classes and fill them out better. SBR Remaster/Refresh: Nothing to say here, but I suspect this will be coming up soon. A GT spec SBR would pair really well with some of the content we've been getting like the K-Series GT4 and the Scintilla generic touring car Moonhawk remaster: This one is perplexing. The Moonhawk is probably the worst looking car left in game, and the team keeps adding random small content to it. The 2 engines added in this update are great to see as they've been requested a lot and sorely needed. Still, the Moonhawk has a lot of issues and omissions left. Other remasters: No sign of anything here, but it's worth noting that the T-Series had some attention with those hydraulic changes but overall hasn't been keeping up with the updates the rest of the roster has been getting Map content: Spoiler: Speculation Automation test track remaster: See here for @BowlerHatJack's observations suggesting an Automation Test Track remaster. Aside from Cliff map this is the only map that hasn't been touched in the past few years. Update 2023/03/14: Today's Teaser Tuesday is for map content and it sure looks like an Automation test track remaster. Update Speculation thread discussion starts here. I'm hesitant to put this in green as it is our first teaser for this, but the above post from BowlerHatJack suggests this has been WIP for at least several months now. Again pretty much as expected here. Automation map got a nice beautification. Props to @BowlerHatJack for figuring this one out so far ahead Additions to Johnson valley were a nice little surprise Gameplay: Spoiler: Speculation Walking mode; Triggers; Career Mode Sneak Peak; AI/Traffic updates; Mission System; Steam Achievements; and UI changes have all been WIP in recent updates and this will most likely continue for the foreseeable future Update 2023/02/21: More vehicles will be getting openable doors/hoods. There are a few vehicles missing from this teaser. Maybe the team didn't want any more in the screenshot or maybe this will be spread over two updates. I suspect at minimum the T-Series and Wentward will get these updates later as they are so different from the rest of the fleet. I assume we will see at least a few interior triggers for more common functions, as the 0.27 vehicles generally do. No way to say when we could see that though. @LucasBE has a post discussing some bits related to career mode and the like We had the opening doors confirmed in the first teaser The handful of new missions are nice to see, there's some fun new stuff Everything else" Spoiler: Speculation Physics & such: Ropeables: TDev mentioned that ropes/ties are WIP and winches are on his short term wish list. Not only would that be important for cargo and off road gameplay, but it would also allow for more types of vehicles (Cranes, wreckers, hook & chain tow trucks, etc....). @LucasBE has a post discussing some bits related to ropeables See this post for some speculation from @CaptainZoll with a pic of a winch already modelled for the Wydra Airbags: Airbags were tested but declared not currently feasible Improved Aerodynamics: TDev was going to come back to this question during his Q&A but never did Tire Thermals; Mud/Scratches: Things in these directions will be coming soon. ABS Updates: Vehicle electronics are one of those things that are pretty much always WIP and a potential to see in an update; but on 2022/10/21 Diamondback posted some big ABS improvements with the note that he is working on an overall ABS overhaul. Additional post here Everything Else: Misc: TDev's long term wish list includes deformable terrain, "huge" maps, and more. He hopes that they will finally get on that 3 month update cycle they've been mentioning but unable to stick to. Torquescript: Ongoing effort to remove TorqueScript We did see some progress towards this in 0.27 Driver Model: Feasibility of a driver model was being investigated Pedestrians: Same for pedestrians, which were deemed not currently feasible but still on the long term wish list. Additional post on this topic Sounds: Expect a post from TDK about what they have been working on at some point. Perhaps related to audio ray tracing, which will potentially improve cabin noises and allow for some other cool stuff. Additional post here. Update: See this comment from @FFIVGUY. Unused engine sounds: 4 cylinder that kinda sounds like a rotary/wankel from @dart and i3, i6 diesel, and V8 courtesy of @LucasBE Update: 0.27 did use the new V8 sound, the others remain unused We had some nice surprises like the broken mod locator and statistics, but nothing from the speculation list
I am enjoying the update so far. My new default is a high-revving, manual, rear wheel drive, naturally aspirated V8 station wagon (with the weakest version's badging, just like a BMW M3 with 318i badges), and I have also created a sexy, sporty 309 V8 Moonhawk, inspired by the Chevrolet Opala SS (even though the most powerful Opala SS had an inline six engine).
