I wish they would add a new bodystyle for the covet like they had done with the legran, and technically the pigeon/wigeon (pigwig) platform. It just feels right. even in the aforementioned legran remaster, they made a new car, as well as heavily remastering another car on a preexisting platform

 

A lot of inspiration must have come from the Peugeot 205 T16, which was also mid-engined, but AWD

That's possible

But this is extremely unlikely. They would have had to build 5000 mid/rear engine AWD cars in 1 year to homologate them in Group A, and that requires a huge investment. Renault made only 4987 5 Turbos in 6 years, and they had no fancy AWD system.

I think if we get a proper Group A Covet it will either be front engine AWD from the first year or, less likely, a FF car for 1987, as Ibishu (like everyone else) was caught by sursprise by the sudden cancellation of Group B, and then front engine AWD. It could also have some evolution models, as in the early years of Group A WRC they made tremendous progress every year.

 

Nothing says that it will have awd.

 

And also, nothing says it won't have AWD. Let's just wait and see.

 

I don't know about you guys, but I see some crazy homologated racecar potential in this, similar to that of MG Metro 6R4.

That's exactly what we see too! Modern rallying (BRC, for Beam Rally Championship) is represented in BeamNG by the Sunburst and the amazing Vivace Rally twins but old rallying is still missing. The gravel version of the Group 4 Bolide is amazing but the other racing groups of its time period aren't represented atm! The Covet Group A and Group B cars plus the Bolide Group 4 can make pretty good 80s company together!
Not to mention the potential of the Group B cars doubling as hillclimb monsters with insane aero aids in maps like the Pikes Peak!
