This is probably one of the few games these days that is more fun to play than to watch someone else play... it would be nice if the marketing team would realize that instead of pandering to youtubers making russian mod crash compilation #73285916. I would rather experience the update for myself and then wait a few days to watch a baby blue pigeon crash into a hay bale for the thousandth time, instead of having to wait for both the update and youtube videos I don't give a damn about
I've always found me playing the game, for me, is vastly different than watching my own video. I make drift videos which I think are really entertaining, as they show a lot of skill and fun stunts, but things like basic gameplay will never sell. People want to experience it for themselves
I made a non-police version of the Bastion (please don't look at where the text used to be too closely ) For comparison:
Be patient, but it is certainly true that BeamNG is better to play than watch people play it, it's a sandbox, and it is of the games nature to be more fun to play than to watch, although YouTubers having a head start on making videos is probably ideal aswell, as content for BeamNG is a big part of how it is this big today.
You'll be happy to hear then that you don't need to wait for anything or anyone besides the update actually being ready.
...oh? Perhaps I misunderstand how the creator program works then? I thought they got early access to updates that were ready so the content could be released at the same time (i.e. updates will be held back until youtubers, etc. are ready to release their content as well)?
the way i understood it, i think its meant for modders who wants to update their stuff in advanced for updates. i dont think i ever saw a youtuber get anything in advanced. from what ive seen beamng has been very fair with that, everybody gets it at the same time. and its not like if beamng doesnt go thru everyone they would accept in that program... i dont think its as easy as making a youtube account xD but honestly an official reply would be cool, i never got exactly what the creator program was for anyways.
Did you ever take a look at how long it takes youtubers to release videos about the new update ? Approximatively 1 day for the ones that do good videos. So the update definitely isn't held back by that.
https://www.beamng.com/game/community/creator-program/ It's for youtubers and other content creators as described on that page: "This program is designed for fellow streamers, YouTubers, podcasters and other content creators to collaborate amongst themselves and with the development team."
I know Ermin Hamidovic mentioned in his 0.24 video he was giving the team feedback on force feedback, so I imagine that sort of thing is what that build is for. Watching Neilogical's update videos it seems pretty clear that he didn't even know the update was releasing, let alone have early access. And if he doesn't have access to a CC program for that purpose I don't know who would.
I never got the impression that the Creator Program meant that the update would be held back based on when YouTubers released their videos, just that they got a head start. Holding back an update based on that probably wouldn't be very practical, nor would it make much sense.
I also thought that all the famous youtubers would get it, but turns out that only some less known ones did, and weren't even allowed to make videos on it in advance. So yeah it must be just for feedback, and they chose youtubers for that because they already seem to have good contact with them. Also probably their selection system is pretty strict seeing how youtubers like Camodo weren't accepted (Camodo doesn't even know very well what exactly changed in the update, never reads any changelogs, still uses like 200 outdated mods at the same time, refuses to update or delete them, and then complains that the game is broken, so he would be terrible at feedback lol)
I have tried to apply for the creator program twice, but never heard anything back from anyone. So not sure what criteria you have to fill to get excepted into it.
Updates would only ever get held back by devs to finish up their things not for a channel to prep their content. The creators get early access to unfinished (buggy) builds to prep videos but also to give feedback and help with bugfixes for the main release.
A lot of activity in qa_stable and creator_program today. Can't say for sure if we will see the new car now but youtubers have it for sure
