Here's the problem though: the Challenger was a pony car while the Charger was a muscle car. A pony car is a small, purpose-built sports car while a muscle car is a mid- or full-size family-style car with upgraded power and handling. Guess which one the Barstow is? So calling the new car a Barstow would be applying a pony car nameplate to a muscle car. This was extremely rare, although you could make the argument that the Fox-platform Mustang was a true muscle car given its Fairmont/LTD underpinnings. Also worth noting that BeamNG has only two traditional American muscle cars, the Bluebuck and the Grand Marshal, unless you count the Moonhawk which I don't (not enough power, kind of junky all around).
Yes I do! On-topic: If it is in fact a muscle car - seems likely given its squared-off roofline, neo-coke-bottle Bluebuck styling cues and overall large size - of course there will be batshit insane Hellcat clones, but I want to see what the more boring trims are like. V6? Turbo 4? Hubcaps? Who knows?
I noticed that the front end does give off kind of a Maserati look with the grille and the lights, but the rest of the car looks more like a Charger
The charger was the one and only mid-sized ponycar. Coronet R/t took the muscle car job. Barstow is also a lot closer to the charger than the challnger in size. The Fox platform underpinned "compacts", too. The mustang Mk.I was based on the Falcon compact.
The Barstow is the same size as the '71 Mustang (4.8m), so it definitely is a Pony Car. All Muscle Cars I know are larger than 5 meters, closer to 5.4m actually! The Moonhawk, on the other hand, apart from its 5.5m length, definitely is a Muscle Car for the same reason a '78 Camaro with a Small-Block 120hp V8 is a Muscle Car: they both belong in the Malaise era of the Muscle Car and the term "Pony Car" had already been abandoned by then!
QUOTE="XR8guy, post: 1370107, member: 413940"]the moonhawk is more of a personal luxury car[/QUOTE] Hmmm, could be! Just like the Wendover which came after it! --- Post updated --- Tbh, I don't even think about a Turbo Inline-4 in such a big car. But yeah, it would be interesting to see a modern DOHC V6 in it, although Gavril's 3.8/4.1 Inline-6 could also make a great comeback as a kinda-Barra engine, available in both NA and turbocharged versions! One thing's for sure: if there are gonna be Police versions, they gotta have a Police Package with iron wheels, a ram bar up front, a Heavy-Duty undercarriage and, of course, an automatic V8 powertrain!
For some reason that new car looks fairly close to a Maserati Quattroporte. Might make sense if its a F Segment Luxury car as that is a vehicle niche that is sadly lacking in vehicles. We already have a Compact executive car with the 800 series ETK and a Executive car with the I Series but the F segment is missing a car to fill it. Also it kind of looks like a BMW 8 Series Gran Coupé somewhat too.
EH, I don't think the Barstow would become a 4-door, tbh. Gavril already had two sedans: Bluebuck, Grand Marshal (technically three if you count the Burnside), so in my eyes it would make sense to take one of those nameplates for the new Sedan... if it even is a Gavril, that is. It still remains to be seen.
I'm personally also getting the same Aston and modern Ford vibes from this. Wish we had a better view of the grill.
honestly it could be a new burnside seeing as that is the luxury division and burnside only has one car, more evidence for this is the newer looking burnside logo in the utah dealership.
The Grand Marshal is a standard full-sized sedan and is about as muscular as a sea cucumber. I'd classify Bluebuck and Moonhawk as muscle. Reason I argue Moonhawk is because you have to keep in mind, with SAE Net horsepower ratings, a 1973 Road Runner 440 made a whopping 280hp. A Fox-platform Mustang? My dad had a 1985 GT, it made a dizzying 210hp (245 after he was done with it... supposedly). Moonhawk Sport (4 bbl, 378cuin) is ~200hp. I'd classify it as a muscle car, albeit a weak one. Keep in mind: You could get a Charger with a 2bbl 318. The only thing less "muscle" than that is the dang Slant Six. A 1973 Chevelle with a 350 4bbl made 175hp. The 454 4bbl of the same year was 245hp. The base 307 in a 1973 Chevelle Malibu was rated at... are you ready? 110hp. The Malaise-Era fucking SUCKED.
I mean, the Grand Marshal RS is a thing... but if we are going to discount that for not being muscular enough, then we have to discount the Moonhawk too, leaving us with only one proper muscle car
As much as it would be nice to see all three American classics modernized, my money's on the Moonhawk. Looking at the waistlines and hips of each of them, they all have a similar rear hip with a flat front fender - typical coke bottle shape of the 1960s/70s. But, look closer and you'll notice grand ole MoonMoon's hips both curve up and inwards towards the center of the car...just like the mystery car.
watch it be a new car for the cherrier brand lmao. either way, im excited cause we finally get a new, modern sedan
What if it's a modern Moonhawk and is coming together with original Moonhawk remaster? That would be cool
It's clearly too big and not weird enough to be French, not to mention it doesn't quite follow Cherrier's design language
I have to agree with that. Being a modern Muscle sedan is enough for me. If it brings more bodystyles, I will be even happier. Since Toyota and Chrysler managed to make minivans full of practicality even with a rear driveshaft and differential, it wouldn't be crazy if Bruckell made a RWD/AWD "muscle" minivan (even if it only came with V6 engines).
