I'm totally making a mod where the player is a crash test dummy and walks around with animation if it's possible, this is epic!

im very much in love with this walking mode but i cant help but think the whole opening doors and hood thing could be implemented much better
what if the game made it so that when you click on the front of the hood or the door handles it detaches the lock node (it's already possible through breaking all beams), that would allow you to open and close stuff easily and we could use the hold in place to freeze stuff open
then maybe when you let go of the door/hood/trunk you're opening the door node automatically "locks" again so if it's in the right position it'll shut properly
idk, it just looks so janky to still have to rip open the hood after all this effort has been put into the walking mode

Also there is a badge that says “Wendover” in script font on the passenger side of the dash

Wait a minute, the gridmap map was still the same. Weren't they supposed to update it? It could be that the old version is separate, or that they haven't started changing it. If it is the latter, then the update is probably a lot farther away than we thought.

That seems to still be in the planning stages - make sure to get on over to that thread and give your input on what you'd like to see as part of a new Gridmap!

The grid map revamp is still in very early development stage. Very probably not coming for 0.22

Yeah, just remembered that it probably still is in the planning stages. My bad.

Yeah, that Wendover interior is a dead ringer for the Buick CRT push button screen. Hopefully the menus are cycleable. (skip to 5:06) The CRT predicted one of my least favorite modern trends-HVAC controls via the touchscreen.

Also the closest match I could find for the digital gauges design is also Buick-the W body Regal

So... Given the current surge in developer posts, I would say the update is even closer than we thought. Could even be this week, though more likely next week

I have a random hunch that the update will either come out on Friday or Tuesday.

I would say Monday through Thursday is a safer bet because that leaves at least one weekday to listen to bug reports from the community. (The devs do hear your bug reports even if they do not reply to them! I learned this the hard way and made an ass of myself a couple of times. Sorry guys :( )

Worth noting that our physics-based approach to walking is similar to the one used in the Jurassic Park PC game as well as early builds of Half-Life 2, where it was removed because people died after running into walls.

I don't think you will be able to die in BeamNG so that's not a problem, also getting injuried after running into a wall is realistic. I really like this approach, it shows that BeamNG is good at simulating not only cars but also abstract walking... things lol. Also I wonder if you can drag race by running, I want to win like this against some slow beater
