I'm not saying you can't do it this way, it's just not perfect. I'm not a game developer, I don't know how hard it would be to add opening doors, it was just a suggestion. Can we get back on topic now?
it shouldn't be that much work to add working doors. they have code for that already (tailgates and dry van doors and the h series doors) so they could probably do it in a reasonable amount of time.
Obviously this game needs openable doors on cars - even the truck sims have this now. BeamNG is very far behind in this aspect. Many games in this category have this feature. However, the biggest shortcoming of this game, which I'm surprised has only slightly been addressed in all of my many years of playing this game is map immersion. This game desperately needs various weather conditions and precipitation.
Same with a proper night time with illuminated building windows and streetlights. And consistent road signs.
everyone flipping out about not being able to open doors and im just here like... does anyone remember the ENTER button that would just take you IN or OUT of any vehicles in the ROR days? Id still be fine with that tbh lmao. this is a driving game, not a walking game.
Someone made mods of East coast and west coast USA that adds street lights. Although it would be nice, I think this is not officially in game because it would increase lag. I do like the idea of more realistic and consistent signage. The current signs only look good from afar but are super grainy and look rather terrible up close.
My main issue isn't even how they look, it's how they're just placed haphazardly or just missing completely.
Yeah in some areas the sign placement makes no sense although the low graphic quality, especially on the overhead highway signs on WCUSA really bothers me as well.
