Unable to install mods, and can't link accounts.

I have just spent the last 45 minutes looking, and searching but I can not find any instructions on how to link to my steam account, nor have I been able to successfully install mods. I'm using version 0.8.0.1. I also have found that the couple of mods I wish to install do not have the green install button as other mods do, and I tried installing them manually to no avail. I'm just looking for some quick help to figure out what I'm doing wrong... According to the guide I found, all I have to do is put the downloaded folder into the mods folder. I tried this several different ways, restarted Beam, and the mods refuse to show up...

Edit: I found how to link to my steam account. Now to just figure out the mod situation.
