I actually quite like it. Sure looks better than the new 2 series active tourer IMO. "How to ruin a great car company - step 1"
Focus ST? Megane RS 270? Fiesta ST? Peugeot 205? and BMW has been making front-wheel drive cars. 1-seres european.
All of those cars you mentioned aren't BMW. --edit-- Apparently that car you mentioned isn't even FWD. :| At least do some research before you start talking about cars in arguments.
You wanna fuckin explain your logic here instead of just "facepalming"? If anyone needs to be facepalming, it's me. You don't even know what you're talking about.
The FWD BMWs are good for many markets and better than RWD in many areas. You're never going to drive one anyway so why do you care so much about BMW catering to a wider audience who do actually want it?
Because it isn't BMW. And I know damn well that, the more they sneak fwd over there, they'll eventually start doing it over here. I don't want that.
That BMW 3 compact is the car my Aunty owns. I personally do not find it pleasant. It is rear wheel drive, but the engine is awful and the car was out performed in terms of acceleration and agility by our old Citroen Xara Picasso. The suspension is uncomfortable too. The only thing it has going for it is the build quality, while it doesn't feel amazing everything works still and the car is pretty rock solid (suspension included). But i would probably take the Xara Picasso over that BMW (with the engine that is in hers) just because it has the power to pull itself up hills without any issues as well has having comfy suspension. >
BMW is rear wheel drive. It's the way they are. It's always been that way. If you want fwd, don't buy a BMW. It's heritage, tradition or whatnot.
It was also heritage and tradition that black people were slaves and that women were stayed in the kitchen. That doesn't mean its a good thing. BMW have made many awesome and many crappy vehicles in the past, there is nothing more wrong with front wheel drive than rear or all wheel drive and i am interested to see what they do with it. Change is interesting and its not like they are giving up on rear wheel drive entirely. Its a more family oriented car so front wheel drive will give more rear leg room and more boot space so it makes sense for it to be front wheel drive. It is also very possible to make fun front wheel drive cars and there have been many in the past. The engine will probably be fairly small and economical so they may as well make it easier to drive in the snow than give it rear wheel drive, many people avoid BMW's because they are notoriously bad in the snow which is a huge selling point of Audi, its like a BMW except you dont need to buy winter tires to get out of your driveway in icy conditions. I would rather it be BMW's tradition to make good cars rather than making rear wheel drive cars no matter the cost.
Making FWD cars doesn't mean their RWD models will suddenly disappear. Did you bitch like this when they introduced AWD models?
I don't have a problem with AWD. I don't like FWD though. Whatever. I don't like new BMWs anyway. RWD or not. :|
