Thanks for the resource, if this is something that is not already handled by the beamng game engine, I'd be willing to add it in!

Hi Cake, thanks for the resource. If the beamng game engine doesn't handle this already I'll look in to adding it!

The forums are acting up and there might be a double reply above. If so, apologies.

Do you need the original mod for this to work?

I was wondering if there is a way to change wear rates on tires. I was running some sport plus 2R tires and after one nordschleife lap the fronts were at 85% and i wasnt scrubbing the tires or anything, just normal slip angle. even on a lap using minimum slip angles, the wear was still around 88%.

Hi tomato soup, currently the only way is to change it in one of the lua files. If you want to do this, unpack the mod with the in-game mod manager which unpacks the mod into \...\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.33\mods\unpacked\ and look for tyrewearandthermals\lua\vehicle\extensions\auto\LuuksTyreThermalsAndWear.lua. Inside of this file you can change
WEAR_RATE = 0.042 (Line 37) to whatever you like and reload the game (or reload a new vehicle and reload the lua engine if you know how with keybinds)

First of all, awesome mod! Definitely essential, especially in racing. I was wondering if you could add tire pressure change with temperature. I am not an expert, but isn't temperature in Kelvin directly proportional to pressure exerted by a gas (in this case the air inside the tire). I took this from the 'Ideal Gas Equation': PV = nRT, where P is pressure, V is volume, n is moles of gas, R is Universal Gas Constant and T is the temperature in Kelvin. Once we also factor in the slight increase in volume with pressure, don't we get a relatively accurate tire pressure model?

Hi Ryhan, yes that's right and this is planned in the future once temp generation and wear are reasonably accurate (there are also plans for tyre modders to change these based on compound and other things within the tyre jbeam, something like race/sport soft/medium etc) and UI improvements. After these are implemented, tyre pressure having an effect on wear and temp changes will be worked on but right now I'm lost on making temps and wear physically accurate, as the scientific literature surrounding looks to be a closely guarded secret for race compounds

Also, PV = nRT is true for a gas within a confined space, the pressure of a tyre actually drops with increased temperature due to the tyre becoming less stiff according to this paper (https://www.mdpi.com/2073-4360/16/5...increasing and,on the coefficient of friction.) fig. 13

Hey! Loving this mod, thank you so much for keeping it going. I'm using it while I try to take a stock LeGran wagon and make it a time attack racecar (i.e. I change/tune one part at a time while I figure out what makes cars go fast). That said, I am currently using sport tires, and it takes forever for them to heat up to temperature, which is a bit annoying when I'm changing parts and resetting all the time. Would it be possible to add a feature to select preheat from the tuning menu? I don't feel that this would be unrealistic, as after all, I spawn all my cars preheated.

Hi FlashStopFall, a menu to do this is absolutely reasonable and I may create a one to do this before the release of the rework, though a nice menu will take some time as I'm not all that familiar with UI design yet. And I feel that a configuration item in the tuning menu is a good enough way to go about it, that's a good idea. In the mean time, you can change the brake pad material to be one of these, which will cause your tyres to be preheated:
    "race",
    "semi-race",
    "full-race",
    "carbon-ceramic"

    Hope this helps

The heavy duty tires like on the T-series and MD-series seem to wear too quickly under load in my opinion, i don't have anything to base this on really other than that it just seems ridiculous that these tires that in real life drive under great loads for huge distances would wear this fast, i would look into that. Thanks!

I agree! It's something I've thought about, maybe scaling the load sensitivity of wear rate with the mass of the vehicle? Ideally each tyre would have a load rating in real life but this would take a long time to test & balance, but support for custom tyres which have these kinds of attributes have been tested and are planned for the future :)

I'm having the same issue, 0.35 might have broken the mod.

The mod certainly works for 0.35, sometimes the game needs to be reloaded after installing the mod. If you've tried that let me know if it's worked or not
