Another quick question: are the RPM:Torque settings for the Turbocharger on the covet added onto the engine torque settings or are they separate? (example: if the engine puts out 200lb-ft torque at 4000RPM and the turbo puts out 120lb-ft torque at 4000RPM, then would the overall torque be 320lb-ft or 120lb-ft?)

Yes indeed, there's maybe 2 or 3 things you need to rename on the engine code, and I think you have to add another slot somewhere.

Tell you what, when I'm done finishing my truck I'm updating, I'll add 2 or 3 more sections to this how-to and cover that for you.

I'll add it to the how to.

It's separate. If you want to have a slow engine, then have a super fast one as an option, just modify the turbocharged section.

Woo, finally found an engine performance simulator/calculator! Now, in combination with this, I'll be able to start making some realistic engines based off data from the real thing ;) Thanks again to SleepyPickup for this tutorial, super helpful :D

Anyways, how do you add a second turbo option? I tried copying/pasting the Stage 1 Turbocharger (and yes, I renamed the parts that need renaming) and changing the specs, but the car just shows up frozen when I select the Covet.

Hard to say, could be a missing bracket or something silly.

    Maybe:

    "slots": [
    ["type", "default", "description"]
    ["hatch_exhaust","hatch_exhaust", "Ibishu Covet Exhaust"],
    ["hatch_transmission","hatch_transmission_M", "Ibishu Covet Transmission"],
    ["hatch_turbo","", "Ibishu Covet Turbocharger"],
    ["hatch_turbo","", "Ibishu Covet Turbocharger"],

It needs an extra slot for the added turbo?

Alright thanks! I look forward to it

This thread has been a huge help

EDIT: On the multiple engine things, maybe perhaps multiple suspension set ups as well in options, Im sure it would be similar

managed to get a bit faster speed, as well as 0-60 and 59-0 speed and brakeing tests :D

screenshot_00034.png got up to 218mph now, and speed tests: speedbraketest.png

I didn't say to put a space in the middle of a word, lol you probably didn't catch it.

Here's what I noticed right away:
    ***
    [" RL","RR", "lsd", "clo sed", 120, 1]
    ***

And I'm pretty sure you forgot a bracket in between the two differentials (Front and rear).

But just in case, I did a new one from scratch and tested it. So here's a guaranteed working AWD stock engine file.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but I cannot get the rear differential option to show up when I press CTRL+W for the Covet. I've updated the game, used your own engine file, and gotten rid of the covet cache file to see if that does anything. Do you have any idea what is wrong?

Do you have to do all of this? Or can you just do like "part 1 Engine"

Tough question.. on a fresh install, just dropping that file in should give you an extra diff to select. Actually it should spawn with it already enabled I believe. So no, I can't say I know whats wrong, sorry.

It's called a tutorial, not a to-do list lol. Do whatever you want. I was just tying to cover all the bases, so I figured I'd make it fast and silly.

    - - - Updated - - -

I dropped it in my untouched hatch folder and tested it, bingo bango, rear diff.

I figured it out. I had a couple engine files that didn't have the diff and updated them. Thanks.

I don't think setting the burnefficiency boosts horsepower that much. I think it just makes your car absurdly fuel efficient. I used real torque specs of a 1986 Chevy 292 I6 with peak torque happening at 800rpm. I set up the torque curve just like the real one and it gave out exactly 120hp. Perfect. I know your going for obscene speed over anything else but it will give you realistic horsepower if you let it.

Edit-Nope, Dosn't boost horsepower at all. But I magically got 55mpg at 65mph in a 30 year old truck ...

I wouldn't say I go for obscene speed... It's just that 100mph feels slow, hah.

Good info though, so it's only a MPG factor. Good to know.
