You're welcome! The external air filters were fitted on the earlier tigers. Mid and late models didn't have them anymore. Also, there were 2 types: the ones on my model are the so-called "Feifel" filters. The other one is a more plain type:
Simple reason. That isn't a tiger tank. At least not in that scene. Two tanks were used for the tiger scene in FURY, one was unit 131, a real working WWII tiger H1 that currently resides in bovington, she is used for most movement scenes and still shots, the second was unit 555, a replica model built by bovington to stand in for 131 for the action shots, including the burn down and destruction. In that scene it's 555, not 131, 555 does not have the filters on her, as they didn't put them on. Unit 131 does have the filters. Unit 131's rear. Unit 555's side (Couldn't find a rear end picture. Sry.) Note the lack of filters, she only has storage shelves at the rear. (We actually have Unit 555 at the moment, the Aus armor/arty museum bought it after the film was finished, she now once again works and is currently on display.) (And yes that is a mix of T55 and T60 suspension parts on a 'WWII German' tank... Looks kind of stupid. She also runs on a SCANIA engine... like the ones in trucks... But in right lighting and with good scene shooting, she passes very nicely as a 'tiger' tank... Then again 131 runs on a Tiger II's engine and has suspension from a Tiger II so...) Reason why both look different from the film ones is because they were repainted grey for FURY, real tiger tanks never came in the colour grey, this weird yellow colour was stock paint for tiger, though most were given camo by their crews. 131 lacks camo as she was meant to fight in desert areas, so the stock yellow was already well suited for the environment.
either way they still managed to kill a tiger ;-; edit : nvm didnt read the whole thing, anyways its nice to know the 'fake' tiger still works lol
Sadly Sensha-Do Schools are not a thing, so yes, had to check up on this myself, read up on fury like three years ago and when I saw dean's pic I remembered the fact that 131 does have filters, so it must've been the replica in that scene.
