Yeah, when I think about it I can't get away from that conclusion, having spent the last 5 years experiencing a large percentage of what this driving sim world has to offer. Sure, there are many weaknesses and faults relative other options one can pick at, but big picture BeamNG is just doing too many things at least fairly well to avoid giving it the crown. Some "wits" still say it's not a *driving* sim at all, it's a crashing sim, but I'm convinced that is based on parroting someone else's experience from like 8 years ago. I play a lot of things, and the muscle cars pretty much act like muscle cars in every other sim, rear wheel drive JDM sports cars act like their counteparts in other sims, mid-engine Italian supercars from late 70s/early 80s...you get the idea. Now in trucking, sure you don't get to cross a lovingly crafted 1/10 scale version of the United States, but you DO actually get proper and plausible physical modeling of your stopping distance, the stability of your truck, trailer, and load, and the breaking strain limitations of that same. Offroading, rally...you get the idea. It's the ONLY sim that will ever be able to do stock car racing ("rubbing is racing") or playing cops and robbers (PIT maneuvers) justice.
BeamNG was the first game I've ever played where landing on your wheels doesn't mean your car is safe. I've never seen or played anything like it. There will be another Assetto Corsa, another Gran Turismo. You'll be able to lap the Nurburgring in yet another game with your favorite GT3 car. I don't think there will be another Beam. And the devs have a real passion and desire for perfection that means the game will only get closer to real life.
I am unsure, it depends on context really of what your looking for, I tend to do a lot of offroad driving in game on the Johnson Valley map with offroad vehicles so they are pretty okay, but really it depends as I said earlier, it depends on context
Not sure there will be another AC. AC’s claim to fame, along with RF2 and a few other near contemporaries, is FFB that is extraordinarily good at intuitively communicating what car is doing to the player through feel, CLEARLY. Even Kunos’ own sequels to AC have been not nearly as good at this particular point. Intuitively informative wheel FFB that almost fools your brain into thinking you are really experiencing G is a product newer sims are not providing and is thus represents an untapped market if some company wanted to divert some time and resources to tweaking FFB for that goal.
