Why don't you have a coal forge? Seriously. If you ever get the chance to try blacksmithing, take it. Wicked fun.
I once decided to take apart a old power supply switch because it was broken and I needed to start my PC, it was a AT style power supply unlucky for me I happened to grab hold of a live wire going to the switch trying to *hot wire* the PC to start, boy did that thing give me a kick...
Yesterday i decided to make a desk fan out of an old computer fan since its super hot with no wind in the NE of the UK at the moment. So i took a 9v power supply that used to "whistle" when it used to run the router. Cut the wires on the fan. The old power supply had a bullet style connector so i taped the wires in securely with electrical tape so as not to damage the power supply so it can be used in the future if needs be. So now i have this super awesome desk fan that works quiet well. One piece of advice though, don't put your finger in the blades accidentally, they draw blood But making the fan was definitely a smart move, that thing does an amazing job. The power supply also no longer whistles, i can only assume its because the fan requires far less amperage.
Is there a maplin near you? Can get the female barrel connectors there with either solder terminals, bare leads or screw terminals along with PCB mount versions too.
Yeah, we do. But that requires leaving the house and effort etc The way i have it currently taped is actually surprisingly strong, mainly because the cables terminated in a flattened connector. Either way i am impressed how well that fan runs. I may be tempted to pick up a larger computer fan if i see one going cheap but the air flow on it at the moment is pretty excellent considering the size. Its just a little loud (its not actually that loud, its just that my pc is quiet quiet and i use speakers). Fun fact: That is actually the mk2. The first time i tried to get the fan running i actually soldered it onto an old samsung phone charger where the micro usb connector had snapped off. But while the fan ran at 5v it wasn't very effective so i decided to try and find a higher voltage power supply. Turns out 9v is enough to get it running nicely even if it is a 12v fan.
I think its fair to say the thread has turned into something else. But what it has turned into still matches the title and is ultimately a pretty awesome thread. I see no harm in posting both stupid things you have done in BeamNG as well as in real life here.
Just read through that thread literally just before I posted this On topic ; expecting my skin threads not to die
Started up my parents old pc from 1999 hadn't been run since 2007 with out cleaning it first... it was hot, really hot.
I attacked a speed bump at ~50mph last night. Was it stupid? Yes. Would I do it again? Hell yes. o shit 500st post
I edited the motor on the DVD and added like 25000 ftlbs of torque. Drove good if you could start off and keep the wheels.
I tried using an egg cutter once. I had already started cooking the egg when I realized I had three huge gashes in my finger. Oops
