It'll be a paid game, it mentions being on Steam and early access. Also, there's no reason not to back now, because it doesn't even charge you until it ends if it's successful.
I played the SL series and CRC extreeemely much, also added my own creations (incl. a awesome Volvo 740 in CRC...) but there was always a feeling that the guys creating it really didnt know what driving and modding was all about. Cars felt pivot point controlled (a la Colin McRae series) and the modding... never ever seen so beefy tires in my life. This might have changed though but the trailer didnt convince me
Yes true, but I think he means he wants to wait until the game comes out, if it reaches the goal on KS. IMO F2P games are the most expensive way to play. That business model really wouldn't work too well here where we are trying to promote game modding etc. Yep for sure, I agree. Physics tuning is a whole other universe in its own right, in my opinion. SL and CRC used older iterations of their physics engine, and actually despite what you might think about the engine itself which they designed.. it's really good. It just comes down to the parameters and adjustment, we got SLR to be a whole lot better than before. Out of the box, in my opinion its completely unusable.. and I think that's really down to the fact that you need a lot of real world experience, and time. Time being one thing they probably never had. For example this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE-y6CYMhys whats the damn youtube tag to embed ? lol There is no other physics engine in here than the original Invictus engine. All he did was adjust the params. I actually had a go at this a few weeks ago, we have made a physics lab tool and track to help tune the cars physics in real time, and its something we want to put in the new game so everyone can enjoy it... but the difference with the current game is that there is literally zero explanation of what these variables and params do.. so you have to 'guess' and i got a headache just trying to do that... however in my testing I realized just how crazy something can get with a few tweaks... What I'm getting at with my lengthy posts (sorry) , is that even if worse case the physics aren't as expected out of the box, at least have the ability to tune them, and we will, from the alpha stage onwards and if we come up with a good setup that most people like, we can just add it to the official game.

Very informative, thank you, ill most definitely have a look at it! Im all ears, always liked the posibility of the physics getting changed/updated as the game develops. I had months or even years of fun with these series, especially CRC. It gave me a nice mix of realistic physics and drive/drift-ability out the box. Now im more of a hardcore physics (more in handling then deformability) in front of anything, because if the physics are somewhat spot on its a guarantee that fun is a factor. Now, that is alot easier typing then doing
Yep, its definitely its own 'universe' or its own 'art' when it comes to perfecting the physics tuning, that's why i think its best to be left open for people to tune. Provide the explanations of what the params do and lets see what we can come up with, through a joint effort. Thanks for the tip on the youtube embed ! makes sense - - - Updated - - - Oh yea, the interview with carthrottle went live http://www.carthrottle.com/street-tuning-evolution-is-about-to-shake-up-the-entire-field-of-racing-games/ I wish we could reach out to more sites like this, I know BEAMNG had a very strong PR campaign, any idea who they reached out to ?
Have you tried Jalopnik? A lot of their users and articles talk about used cars, tuning, car culture, etc and they're a huge site.
YES! finely a car game i can see myself playing in the long run! I have always loved SLRR and would have been playing it still if it wasn't for the weird physics and camera movements. I am most likely gonna back it as i truly want to see this game come true (hopefully things won't go so slowly as Beamng)!
Yea if you can get on Jalopnik that would be great. racedepartment.com, simracingworld.com and maybe isrtv.com seem like good places to spread the word and get some attention.
Hey We did have an article written here http://oppositelock.jalopnik.com/street-tuning-evolution-on-kickstarter-1673451428 Nothing official though, I tried to email some of the editors, nobody responds. It's very difficult, and its a shame. hey, thanks for your comment... by the way for the weird physics try this http://streetlegalmods.com/downloads/game/misc-parts/Rev-Physics-Alpha It's pretty solid IMO, cars don't do funny things anymore. Make sure you install it on top of Stage 1 here: http://streetlegalmods.com/downloads/game/the-games/SLRRMWM2011---The-Compilation-STAGE1 Should give you a pretty usable SLR ! Right now we are just putting all of our resources into trying to reach out and get more sites like CT share our story and spread the news... it's amazing the push we got from CT and car memes, but we need more than that of course... - - - Updated - - - Also, thanks for the suggestions on the other sites, I've sent them all an email and msg on fb
We need more attention to this.... Can you guys please spread the word and help make this campaign reality? I normally won't beg for anything but this game must be released! @Singh: Have you tried posting over at www.automationgame.com? I bet those guys would love seeing their engines in STE
Good news, the official screenshots and a gameplay video have been released. There has also been a pretty indepth interview with Singh on the TheSLAPTrain1 youtube channel. It shows a good bit of gameplay and talks a lot about what is planned for the game, info about the kickstarter campaign and a whole load of details on planned modding support and game features. Interview and gameplay: Official screenshots are here also: http://streettuningevolutionmods.com/forums?m=posts&q=5 Looking really good so far
Well only found out now but the campaign has been moved to indiegogo. https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/street-tuning-evolution-car-building-racing I'll definitely be backing the game now with the added paypal support, I couldn't previously because of an issue with my card and amazon pay. Edit: Backed $50
