Thanks, so now all of us know that when a train is not on rails it will just sit there with its wheels spinning at the equivalent of 1321mph, very informative.
the gearing is VERY TALL and the ntranmission values are very off... (viscosity) with proper values it does 120 on rail or the same off (with bigger wheels that makes it touch the ground)
So with cruise control and wind, I was able to get the train to 105 mph (airspeed) downhill, before it derailed: Anyway I been having a lot of fun with the locomotive. Keep up the great work Chris!
Thanks for sharing a train. What's the deal with the large rubber tires and the non-functional suspension? I understand the need for a little compliance and a little traction, but this seems excessive to me! Maybe the rubber could be reduced by about 90-95% ? You're dumping a lot of stuff into the console. Maybe that could be turned off? Looks like it's from something frequent, like onPreRender() or something. If not, at least this information should be printed less frequently - a function could easily be implemented to print once per second or less. The lua does not fail gracefully without wheels. Maybe more checks could be implemented to prevent exceptions.
could you make a different train like one of these: I know it'll be hard and long but remember this is just a suggestion [plz do one at least or try to]
Hey, just wanted to chime in while I was on this thread, the new version of Tennessee that should be out within the next 10 days, will have a good 14~15 miles of railroad track, one section is 8~10 miles, another section will be 5~6 miles or so. Currently the 8+ mile section goes from Downtown Harriman to the fossil power plant, and there's also a section that goes from Rockwood to most-of-the-way to Harriman. The last release version had somewhere around 7 or so miles + an unconnected mile or two in Harriman. Going to put as much as I can in, but I am already at 3300/4096 map units and still have a whole town or two to do so the hard limit will be 18~20 miles of track, tops (but that's still quite a bit). Keep up the great work.
I am honestly a huge fan of trains in general and I was actually thinking about doing something like this myself. ...but I had no idea how. Amazing train, amazing mod, thank you so very much!
This is just amazing, keep up your great work, this is one of those classic mods that all other train mods will be compared too
This steam engine is much better than that one. Why not publish it? --- Post updated --- Excuse me, which map is this?
