you should have just stopped right there because everything that could have happened has already happened so theres very little point continuing this discussion

You may not see the point, but as I see it, the moderators - specifically Nadeox1 - are not being fair and "transparent" in their presentation of the issue. If I'm repeating points other people have said before, it's not that I don't read past arguments made but the moderators are not listening.

I will press this issue so as long untill a second viewpoint is acknowleged, I change my mind, or I get silenced. I cannot stay idle while feeling indignant.

i get your point, but the ToS clearly states:

4.2 By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.
4.4 The owners of beamng.com reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any content item for any reason or no reason.
4.5 The owners of beamng.com reserve the right to exclude users from usage of this forum for any reason or no reason.
4.6 The owners of beamng.com do not need to justify their actions.

arguing for your viewpoint and trying for "truth and transparency" most likely isn't going to do any good here and might bring this thread one step closer to a lock tbh

like FS16 said, all of this drama is unnecessary and a big waste of time for the beamng devs where they could otherwise be using the time to improve other things

Rules give moderators complete immunity and ket them do whatever, and that's fine, but I'm not debating the legality of this issue. It's about frankness in the aftermath, which everyone would be able to appreciate.

Don't get me wrong. Lamzumi and probably Shiokarai deserve their punishments per ToS, but I fight because they are being depicted as villians when all I see the issue are fatal, but honest mistakes and poor decisions.

Lazumi and shio acted poorly both in uploading mod with nsfw content and by their responses(well more so shio).

Shio posted their fix which was more making fun of them having to censor it than accepting responsibility and then made the repo thread where it seemed like they put all the blame on the staff approving mods and not the users submitting said mods.

Lazumi’s first offence was more severe and their’s got them banned after they received a dm(which there was no obligation for staff to do).

Again, some clarifications from the viewpoint I have, being on the same sercer as the two:

Regarding Shio, she made the post after she uploaded the 2nd revision (image in my first post). She was chastised for the first revision she made, which was sarcastic like you said, but she did made a clean version which never got approved as an update.

As for Lamzumi, he actually got banned without knowing specifically what was NSFW in his mod pack until after the fact when it was made public in the Discord. He main complaint was he never actually recieved a DM from moderators regarding the issue.

    Edit

    Some words from Lamzumi:
"People need to start understanding that these posts are not to try and rebuke the fact that we were both in the wrong. Nor do we want it to be, as we have honestly lost all motivation to carry on supporting BeamNG. Instead, these posts are to show people, to prove our point and the other dozen members who have had their accounts banned afterwards. That there is a flaw in how management communicate with its members. And its inconsistencies between warnings and bans for each individual for the same rule they break."

Many people don't browse the forums for a very particular set of reasons.

I'm aiming to point any fingers here, but you know who you know what you have done, and I hope you realize that nobody is perfect, including whoever is writing this.

I didn't choose to write this because I wanted a flame war to emerge. I want this community to know something.

Many believe in the freedom of expression, but hold that statement to a certain degree.

Sometimes, certain things don't impress others, and more importantly, said content can be considered questionable for a very blatant reason.

Those things that a certain part of the community saw wasn't considered very tasteful, to put it short.

It is products like this, that are why that the events that have transpired over the course of the past few years have occurred.

Having a lack of self-awareness, a lack of professionalism, and a lack of respect for others in this community is what causes the community to turn against certain people who seem to lack any semblance of these elements.

It is why many veterans, both from the modding community and the people that make the game for you refuse to even use the forums as much as they'd like to. If we are constantly being surrounded by people that just complain endlessly about minor bugs or design cues, or something insanely minuscule, then we don't want to do anything to do with you, do we?

If all that people do is just complain, there is no fun in that. If there is nobody to enjoy the content for what it is, or leaving some actual constructive criticism, then what good does that do to this community?

It is why many have abandoned modding this game entirely, or to refuse to embrace their fellow community members.

Nobody likes seeing a community for such a demonstration of leadership and team power, go to the wayside due to some outliers that had broken the rules.

We are all human, we all make mistakes. But many need to be aware of what mistakes they are making, and remember the repercussions for their actions.

This is an experience we can learn from, because we learn from our mistakes, so that we don't make them again.

Let's try to aim for a brighter future, and have some fun along the way, please?

    Thanks.

In the last few days I've seen countless posts about the situation getting removed for seemingly no reason, and that really worries me. The moderators claim the reason for removing them is that they're hateful, insulting etc. However, I see these actions as trying to cover up the issues between the community and the staff by silencing everyone with a different opinion, which leads to frustration and anger on both sides. As an example, the extensive, albeit a bit critical insight I've given into the situation on the General Discussion thread got a great amount of positive feedback, but despite this was removed within hours, with no reason given. In my opinion, such an approach will only result in a large portion of the community going off the forums, and potentially giving up on the game that your team
    altogether.

My post will probably disappear in a couple of minutes and I will get another warning (or ban)... But whatever...
I have been for years on this forum, but only have a couple of posts, because 99% of this forum is trash posts and I get sick of even participating in this mess. Either some underage kids spamming "cool", "when is release", etc. posts under mod topics (instead of real suggestions or meaningful questions) or the other type of posts are from such types - "My PC is c**p, make game run better", "Make console version", "Make multiplayer", "I have a new great feature to suggest..." (yeah, kid, 1001 people before you have already posted this stuff, how about you search, before you post...).

Feels like this forum is a perfect reflection to current global social issues. Various groups - political & private (in this case forum admins) embracing s****d people and punishing the ones, that are trying to contain the spread of idiocracy.
Freedom of speech is an illusion - it has never been the case.

You're telling me that I could get banned for calling myself an idiot? Not somebody else, but me? Wow, I just don't even know what to say to that.
Here's the thing, I actually feel like MrAnnoyingDude is in the right here. I don't wanna hurt your feelings, but I think the layout of this site is much better then Discord. I'm not trying to bash Discord, but I prefer this site to Discord.
Exactly, it would be both something for Discord and BeamNG users to enjoy. I prefer this site to Discord, too. A wonderful user (that may or may reply to this) named @Srockzz really liked the roleplay stuff on here. (I'm tagging him just in case he wants to talk about this situation.)
Exactly, that's what I've been saying. There should be better communication between the staff and the users. The staff and the users should work together to make this site a better place for everyone.
I don't either. I didn't download the mod or see the obscene stuff, because I'm not interested in those types of mods. However, a lot of people (including @appesh1 and Nadeox1) said there was obscene stuff in the mod, so I agree with you. You can question me later.

In general. I really like the long OP post on this thread and I think Re:Z_IA explained his/her (I don't the gender of the OP user) made some really valid points along with giving some really useful information about this.

This entire situation has proven what was already known: A relationship without communication crumbles apart.
I think no one here is debating if the bans were deserved or not. They were, and thats the end of it. The problem is the lack of communication between the staff, and the community that keeps the game alive.

What i want, and i dont know if anyone else agrees with me or not, is for the staff to start communicating with us. This whole mess wouldnt have happened if the staff had come out right after the first post that triggered this mess was made. A simple explanation would have gone a long way in stopping the bandwagon of hate. But instead, they decided to delete it and pretend nothing ever happened. And then the rumors started going, and the purge started.

All of the recent drama could have been avoided by just by making announcements instead of censoring everyone. Deleting threads will only lead to even more threads cropping up, more people getting mad, and even more hate. More and more people will take the situation out of context, make more threads, those threads get deleted, those that see the thread unfold make even more threads, those get deleted, and so on and so forth. By the time someone in the staff decided to acknowledge the situation, the damage was done.

What we need is a proper announcement system, that makes them as visible as possible to everyone in the forum, and that the staff uses the way its intended. Drama going on? Make an annoucement to stop the bandwagon of hate. Changes on the Forum? Announcement. Just wanted to wish everyone a happy (x) Holiday? Announcement. Here is an idea on how to do that, under the new posts tab, make another one called "Announcements" that lists all the recent changes, with their respective threads explaining them in detail. Or maybe place it on top of the dev section of the forum. or maybe how about both.

I just hope this entire mess is a learning experience for our staff. i believe their actions to control the situation had good intentions, but ended up making the situation worse for them and the community.

They could incorporate a new alert by adding a 3rd alert tab (messages, general alerts, and developer alerts). It could also be used to notify users of game updates or new changelogs.

The awkward moment when you "accidentally" include this type of disgusting image in your mod.

You people make me sick. Stop defending people who think this kind of stuff is ok. The fact that there are people who get off to this makes me want to vomit.

Honestly, I actually really agree with this post, but I liked it because you're Srockzz and you're awesome. Also, I think you've actually improved on your grammar a lot, but even if you didn't. You're still awesome. I have a question for you. Do you think the devs should announce stuff on General Discussion as well?

That's beside the point: the fact it's apalling and mistake or not should not have been in the pack is not up for debate.

The whole point of the thread and people criticizing moderation action taken is that it could have been done quietly, with clearer communication, better pacifying of the crowd, anything. It's about steps needed to be taken so that the next ban or whatever doesn't cause excessive drama.

Dude, read the context. Nobody here is defending the nature of the pornography, so if you got some beef about fetishes in Japanese culture take it elsewhere, not here. We don't need more strife than what has already happened.

It’s not at all besides the point. You don’t rob a bank get pardoned and return to criticise the banks security especially when the banks security did everything it was supposed to do.
The beamng moderation team didn’t owe anyone an explanation, they asked people to stop, when they didn’t they got a ban.

Further more nobody likely would have cared if this so called “fetish” wasn’t child related.

How exactly do you professionally phrase what happened? Imagine going to work and having to explain that someone was grubby enough to include this in a forum mod and that's the reason they got banned. Maybe if everyone exercised some common sense and actually waited for the moderators to deal with the original offenders so that they had time to explain their reasoning, instead of instantly whinging and saying how they are leaving (which they aren't anyway) then this wouldn't have happened.

What lack of communication? Some users got banned, and nade even made a thread about it. That's more communication than usual.
