Do you think you could make a mid engine V8 version of it, as a tribute to the Ford supervan? I think that would be cool, thoughts?

I don't know. I like the idea but would it really make sense to have a completely unrelated van have a tribute to a racing transit?

You’d just have to use something typically Czechoslovak, Like Tatra 603 or 613 engine, but yeah, it’s not really related to the Transit at all, and the handling would be well… interesting to say the least.

Depending on when this van was made, you could either say it was a little known project that gave ford the idea or a vehicle to rival the supervan, and put the most powerful engine from that region into it or something, just throwing out ideas, whatever you want to do as the mod creator is great, you have already done a great job.

Yeah, it'd be funny to have a Skoda 100 engine in it or something. Imagine how grossly underpowered it would be

Well, the original engine for the 1203 had 45 HP DIN (51 HP SAE) and 90 Nm and the engine for the 100 has got 42 HP DIN (48 HP SAE) and 75 Nm, so you’d just make a barely tolerable car even worst.

However! The engine in the original prototype (photo) was out of the 1952 Škoda 1200 which means that it had 36 HP SAE (probably around 32 HP DIN) and 74.5 Nm, that’s what I call painfully underpowered, especially considering the fact that by the end of the engines life it would make around 26 HP!

Wow. It's a cute van but christ it's underpowered. I get that you don't need to get around fast but it can't have been good for fuel economy to constantly have to be on the throttle lmao

Yeah, 1203 is a notorious gas guzzler… The manual states that at a constant speed of 60 km/h the average fuel consumption is 11 l/100 km (21 US MPG, 26 UK MPG) and the real fuel consumption was around 14 l/100 km (17 US MPG, 20 UK MPG). Funnily enough that was the original 1203 with the “kšilt” (peak) above the windscreen. When they removed that the fuel consumption fell by 2 litres thanks to the fact that it no longer created a massive air brake! :D Styling suffered but at least the fuel consumption was now bearable...

Original front end with the peak above the windscreen

The modernised front end without the peak

Try Substance Painter. It makes the process way easier and there are tutorials you can follow. If you are familiar with photoshop, you will have a very quick start. Substance Painter allows you to project textures on your 3d model, instead of the oldschool way by aligning the textures based on the UV map with a lof of headache. SP does the job for you and comes with rust generators for ex. which produce rust around the edges. Give it a try.
