I would love if we have scratch physics in all cars, because it's strange after even a major accident the paint is good as new..

Yeah! It would also be cool to have more diverse damage and more interesting damage. Like engine components going bad, or being able to simulate a car with like 300k miles.

Scratchers won't be added at the moment. Stop asking about this. This thread is like 7th billion about this

People like you are stalling the visual progress of this game, shooting down great ideas. It's absolutely true that this game is missing basic visual details, and it stands out like a sore thumb. Physics are already superb, so I say devs should focus more on visual details for a change.

This is like the 300,000th thread about this and the answer is no. Sure, it may be added eventually, but not for years. It's such a small detail and so hard to implement, it is simply not worth the effort.

If it's the 300,000th thread on the topic, then that means there's great demand for the feature, and it would help the game grow market share if it were implemented. It's far from impossible to implement. Even Spintires from 2014 has paint scratches. Yes I understand it's different with BeamNG's dynamic crumpling, but it's definitely not impossible. So let's stop already with the pointless negativity. I swear it seems some people really want this game frozen in time. In that case, I'd say just disable your updates, and play the game for 50 years.

Who says I want the game "frozen in time"? Just because I'm saying that this feature isn't worth the effort doesn't mean I don't care about the game, developers, or updates.

Just a somewhat short reminder which may - or may not - give you a chance to acknowledge the current state of this game: v.0.22.3 (!)

I understand that it might be confusing for some gamers / forum members that a development of getting close to a decade doesn't feature "basic" visual details such as paint scratches but keep in mind that this game is still undergoing active programming and despite all the great implementations and huge steps even within the past three years there will always be something a single or more individuals think should've been added a long time beforehand.

    Form follows function.

Sometimes there are "unnecessary" suprises like the recently added ability to walk around in a driving focused game, some other time there's great dissappointment about feature x or y still missing, yet another there's big news and great pleasure.

The guys behind BNG are people like you (pl.) and I with their weekly schedules, road maps, personal interests and I'm glad it's not a big player studio with a strict deadline forced by well known publishers that more and more often destroy patience and anticipation with their self-inflicted problems (paychecks for thousands of employees, bonuses for their board members, adverts, taxes... well ) and greed for profit. Every single owner of a genuine BNG copy just bought it once without yet paying good money for any major update and these folks are still making progress while at the same time could've charged you $2, 4, 8, 16 or more for any high quality vehicle added into the game - made from scratch, not bought or stolen from 3D websites - and/or other features.

This game already delivers so much jaw dropping content close to reality - it's pretty obvious that details like scratches, spawning a parked car without its engine running or seeing the actual interior or body through rear view and side mirrors are going to be added, when it's about time to do so - decided solely by the developers.

Give them the time they need for creating quality content, don't be grumpy or disappointed that apparently no one listens to your suggestions. And please don't feel attacked by any part of my reply. It is - as I've stated before - only a reminder to appreciate the amount of work that has to be put into a project of this scale with a limited number of developers.

    That was... really well said.

Iirc @Occam's Razer is working on scratches. I have no idea about progress.

Adding scratched paint will not grow the market share and asking people to stop spamming the forums will not freeze development. No one said it is impossible, just that if OP is going to start yet another thread on it then have something worth discussing which hasn't been said before.

OP has created one of countless threads for something that has been discussed in depth plenty of times and has contributed to the discussion in absolutely no meaningful way. This does not indicate nor help the state of anything useful.

I know the devs have responded to the suggestion before, but there are so many effectively identical threads that I won't even be able to find those responses in the sea of "I want scratches" threads... Just one of many reasons why having so many spam threads is bad.

No, not me. I contributed some discussion to one of the scratches threads, and other users later tried to make a practical prototype of their idea, but I have no involvement in their project.

You don't know that. Keeping the game in a state where it's missing visuals common to other driving games and looks obsolete certainly won't grow market share. It will only ensure that the game remains a niche product with limited gameplay potential.

OP is not spamming the forum. He's new here, and the forum actively discourages bumping older threads, even those that are just 1 month old. What are people supposed to do, just shut up if something was already suggested once in the past 10 years? How would the devs gauge what players actually want?

I don't understand people here, patting themselves on the back for shooting down ideas that would make the game better. I actually haven't seen this anywhere else, where players want the devs to do less instead of more.

Money wouldn't be a problem. I'd gladly pay for a paint scratch and dynamic mud add-on, if it's good quality. Is that what you're afraid of, that you may have to shell out a few bucks or be missing some features that other players have?

you may have misinterpreted my point on that. Money isn’t the issue here but the infrequent impatience and lack of trust in the developers surely are. I do miss some of those upcoming features, but it’s not for me to decide when cosmetic changes are going to be implemented. I simply don’t understand the excessive level of disappointment on some subjectively - I’ll give you that, not important for me but probably a higher priority on your side - minor flaw that makes the game lack a tiny bit of realism while still, correct me if I’m wrong, no other simulation on the market features such in-depth and accurate deformation, and several other yet unmatched details.

Let’s just stay excited for the things to come

Na Mate, scratches and mud still many bloody years away.
Pushing and asking for these will not make them come quicker. Makes you wonder why those who keep asking for these, even when it has been answered many times already, never make their brains work by looking to see if someone has asked already.

No one is going to see some scratches on paint and be like "this is where I draw my line to buy the game".

The game is second only to GTA V on steam in racing game sales. It is not some niche product nobody is buying. The game is honestly rather pretty when graphics settings are turned up and gamma is nudged down a couple of clicks. Sure it's no Project Cars, but it's a lot better than RFactor and iRacing IMO (two similarly old games as BeamNG) and both of them are doing well. You're acting like scratches are some massive game changing graphics upgrade. Unless the cars slide or otherwise rub against something there honestly usually isn't a ton of scratching in major accidents. Most crashes won't even look all that different.

It's literally spam. He just said "I want scratches", which countless other people have made threads for. He has forwarded the discussion in exactly zero ways. Use the search bar to find any of those old threads and just rate "agree" to any of them instead. If you want to bump a thread or create a new one and actually add to the discussion then go ahead, but if you have nothing worth saying then don't say it. Trust me, after nearly 10 years of the forum being around the devs have seen this suggestion more time than I can count.

I don't understand why you keep saying this everywhere or where you are getting it from. Some of us have been here since 2012 and we've seen these threads answered countless times nearly word for word, yet people make new threads instead of find the responses already given. It is just forum spam at this point. Asking people to not clutter the forums and asking them to be patient about their wish list isn't going to affect development at all.
