Seeing some requests for a template in here, so here's the one I've made and been using. Layered/optional parts, layered masks, different baking options, etc. Attached are versions in .psd and .xcf format, that should cover most painting platforms (I use gimp, you can get it here) I've also including one filled out with a new scheme on it, just to show how I format my stuff. If you have any questions message me, don't want to clutter the thread any more than we have to. Spoiler: Couple Quick Tips - For gimp users, draw your bases using the paths tool. You can create a path, then use path to selection + the bucket tool to create a base. It gives much cleaner lines and curves than trying to do it by hand. Paths are also infinitely scalable using the path transform options. I tend to mockup my stuff at the standard resolution, upscale the path to 4X that, then downscale. Gives much cleaner lines that way. - Layers are a must, makes for easier editing when stuff inevitably goes wrong later. - You'll need to export your paints to .png format for the game to load them, game won't know what to do with a .psd or .xcf. - Check your paints in-game frequently, I tend to name my paints as one already defined in the mod, then just keep overwriting it with each iteration. Not supposed to do that, but it's quicker than editing the materials file. - Baking gives a scheme a shaded effect, it makes it look a little bit nicer. Now, you're supposed to do it in blender but I'm terrible at using blender. So what I do is take the bake layer (called "Standard Bake" in the template), set it to ~35% opacity, move it to the top of the template, then create a "new layer from visible". it should create a new layer that looks like the full scheme, washed out, but shaded. You can then play with the brightness and contrast of the image to give it its color back, I find -35% Brightness and +45% contrast to be a fairly safe bet. Before and after to show effect, look next to the Summit logo to see it really well. - Happy painting!
All these people just asking for information to be handed to them, when all you have to do is read a couple pages...
Heres my new paint job. i need someone to put the image in the middle of the side, and the hood of the truck. if you can, thank you very much.
That would be nice. Thank you very much. It means a lot to me that a paint job dedicated to the fire department be in an addon pack. Could you post or PM me the final product of the paint job/skin?
I love it! Thanks a ton! It makes me want to cry, it means the world to me. will it be in the next addon pack? or pack update?
Trust me, that's just the roamer skin ported over. What department would you like your skin based on?
My addon pack. --- Post updated --- I wasn't trying to out do you or anything. I already had the fire dept planned. Feel free to make more.
the truck in the background. im with the fire department in central city iowa. im not mad that someone out-did me. at least i gave them an idea or a start.
Sadly, it seems that I'm having issues with the CRD. I can do FD skins for anything except the T-Series, K-series, LeGran, and modern Pessima (As those lack the second UV layer)
