if a hdd doesn't show up, shows up but needs to be initialized (it has around 200gb of data) or randomly becomes available in the file explorer but takes ages to load its contents, is the hdd dying or is my sata cable just ass fyi, it does kind of sound like its rubbing on something when it spins down during shutdown, but other than that it sounds normal. and no, S.M.A.R.T. didn't report any faults with it, althought it did often force itself into a chkdsk
Id say its dying, before youre sure tho check crystalmark If its really with problems or dying replace HDD and SATA cable if its shite
