Electricity is free. Didn't know prisoners cared about light though. My maxsec guys are nocturnal. Sleep all day, their own yard at night.
My experiences so far: -People tend to hide heroin, cocaine and other nice stuff into boxes that are arriving to the prison -Prisoners like to set the canteen on fire -Fights start out in showers -Nobody ever uses the common room, except the alcoholics group therapy guys -The prisoners are stupid and never learn anything in the classrooms
Put you're visitation room near deliveries, then have a dog patrol or 2 going between each (or I actually have a dog patrol dedicated to deliveries and a seperate one which pops through visitation, storage and kitchen - I had drugs in food deliveries once). Canteen. I've had that once so far when they started a small scale riot in the canteen. No fights in showers here. I build my cell blocks with 16 cells per block and with a shower room at the end of the corridor with 16 showers. If you keep a gap inbetween each shower then they don't seem to fight. Seems to work well for me, every person gets their own shower and they arent being forced into close proimity (which they dont seem to like, seriously, I made a huge holding cell and people were happy in it, made one that barely fit them and it was constant fights). Also place a few showers in the yard (not as shower room though, leave them room typed as yard), they will use them during free time and yard if their shower need gets high enough, this keeps them pretty happy most of the time. If you have no choice on cramming tonnes of people into the showers, stagger shower usage. Set it so max sec use it at 6am, medium at 7am and min at 8am or something, this has reduced canteen fights for me too. People always use my common rooms? Sure the prisoners can get to it? They only use TVs, phones and pool tables in it so far but it does really satisfy the recreation need. The weights bench goes in the yard. Classrooms is an interesting one. I was having real problems with it. Turns out that 90% of the prison was in permanent suppression because of armed guard patrols through the yard (I only had 1 long narrow yard) and each cell block. Armed guards put prisoners in suppression just from their very presence. Prisoners in suppression it turns out have no concentration and as such wont learn. I removed the guard patrols from some areas of the prison, had hardly any suppressed prisoners and suddenly they started learning again.
A guide said that common room should be placed next to the canteen and there should be free time after eating, for max efficiency. Made a new visitation room because the old one was retarded.
Ugh, I really want to play Prison Architect but I don't have any money right now. Should I pirate it and buy it later when I can or just wait?
Wait when it is on sale on Steam, it will happen at some point. Most likely during christmas holidays, but it might be in a random sale anytime.
