Yes It could easily be my error. Do you mind showing your engine.jbeam file? Even in P.M. if you want.
Just for you I wrote another one attached (one of them dumbass "all dur powah" mods) I never modify the original files for a vehicle. I always duplicate the part I am modding in another file, rename it and then mod it there while leaving the original file untouched.
I do the same thing as you do, in case i screw up something or the car in fact is slower on the track than the original one. Thank you for the file, i will look into it to see if I can find my error; hopefully some day I will be actually able to edit jbeam properly
next time, open the console and see what error message it actually flags, you might have just dropped a bracket or quotation mark somewhere
Been trying for an hour but couldn't find what's wrong with my editing; if I modify the engine.jbeam file, even if I change a single value in the torque (example: if I change 360 to 460), when I try to spawn the car the game freezes leaving the car's mesh in mid air. I tried the same thing with other vehicles and it works just fine... Of what console are you talking about? Do you mean the debug mode?
It says that it is a "JSON decoding error" from the engine.jbeam file This just changing the torque values Is it possible that my keyboard settings screw up the file?
absolutely sure you didnt change anything but adding a 0? overwriting the , or ] afterwards or something?
Yup, all I did was open the file, add a zero to the torque values, hit save and close the file. All this in notepad. This is something strange, isnt it?
I'm having troubles loading pikes peak but I guess it's just beacouse it is a very large map. Otherwise the cars all work perfectly for me. Looking at the wheels jbeam file from the subie I assume that they already have the tires adjusted to the improved tires physics of the pre-race update: I'm saying that beacouse I compared the old covet's wheel.jbeam files with the ones from the new covet that came with the pre-race update and the subie has got almost the same values as the pre-race covet. Maybe the creators can confirm that (?)
Nah, the Covet has different beamscales. They're almost the same as the Grand Marshal racing wheels I think, unless Gabe changed them later on... As for the editing and crashing the game: Notepad apparantly does that. Download Notepad++ and use that, that should work. Some other dude had the same problem claiming he "did everything right" and almost implying that it was BeamNGs or our fault... :/
Yes I finally figured out the problem: notepad used to add those " in the first line of all the edited jbeam files... had to re-edit the file with word pad and it worked just fine. I surely will download notepad++, thank you for the tip
