I was wondering how to upload an engine mod I created, I read the wiki post on it but I'm still slightly confused. It says, "To upload your mod simply click this button and choose the ZIP. Make sure your mod works by simply placing the ZIP in the 'mods' folder without requiring any extra steps." I was wondering what zip it's talking about. Do I stick the whole "sunburst.zip" file in there? My mod is only an edited engine jbeam.
When making a mod for an official car, what you should do is create a zip file with a path like "vehicles > (internal vehicle name) > (your mod's name)", and then put your custom parts in the last folder. That zip folder can then be named whatever you want it to, and it should be placed in the mods folder in your user files (if there is not one already there, make one). That is the zip folder that you need to upload. Going further than that, I would recommend not making the custom parts have the same name as the ones you edited, since that would overwrite the official ones. For example, if you edited the 2.0L engine, what you would want to do is change the part's name in the jbeam from "sunburst_engine_2.0" to something else (as long as it also wouldn't confilct with anything else), and change where it says "name" from "2.0L I4 Engine" to something else as well, so that you can tell it apart from the normal engine in the part selector. Then you would want to delete any of the parts that you didn't edit from the jbeam. I would recommend not ever pasting anything into the core files, and would definitely not recommend overwriting anything. If you did that, you may want to do a clean reinstallation of the game. You should instead copy the file that you would want to edit and paste it somewhere else to edit it.
Ok, got it, thank you! I usually write my name after to prevent any conflict in the jbeams. Just to clarify, the engine jbeam file going into the mod folder should only contain the content I am adding?
