Protect your mods - To prevent re-uploading

    If I could be sure that most of the third-party websites could be trusted enough with my data, I would be inclined to upload limited or content-light versions of my mods there myself. That would allow third-party site users to try my mods out, but they could follow the links provided there to get the full version from the official repository. Since it would be the first posted version (and therefore probably the most visible), it would ensure that I get proper credit, and that most users are getting a version that is unlikely to have any malicious software or absurd payment plans often associated with those websites.

    Again, I don't trust most of those websites, and I know full well my stuff would get reuploaded anyway. But I can't help but wonder if there's any value to the "can't beat 'em? Join 'em!" philosophy.

    Edit: this is specifically about general uploads. Pirated versions of paid mods are in a different situation
