More progress being made! Textures wip for the BFG T/A KR tires. Clean and dirty. So, the FH4 010 model is still being sorted. The chassis and frame are modeled strangely but at least we know what it should look like based on references and scale models. After that, comes separating and sorting the sections of body panels into their respective groups. More progress will be posted as I see it
More progress! Got an update to the dirty Baja tire textures. Definitely less worn but not as dirty. Credit to Blkfxx.
Apologies for the lack of updates. We're still working on things and having to do some secondary research to find anything we can use as references. I did reach out and contact Tom Morris, one of the head guys responsible for building both trucks so I will try and get as much information as I can to help the project. When there is visual progress to post, expect it to show up here.
I do sincerely apologize for lack of updates or anything about this project. We know how the drivetrain looks like when assembled into the truck, still sorting parts, trying to figure out whats useable and what needs to be redone. I do have one thing to share at least, what the trucks and its liveries should look like. In FH5 I have recreated several of 010 and 015s livery schemes using what I could find. Limitations with FH5 is that you cannot put text on something that is not designated. Example I could not get text on that black area protecting the instrument panels, so it had to go on the hood instead. First three images are the 010 1990 appearance during the Baja 500 as referenced from old helicopter footage and a couple still shots. The next three are also 010 from the 1993 Baja 1000 where the truck ran its last race and won. Apologies for the lighting, tried my best to work with what little in-game light there was :/ The next set is based on 015 as a V6 during the 1995 Laughlin Challenge, sourced from video and images from the event. This is the last livery made by myself and depicts the first time 015 was given a V8 engine for the 1997 Baja 500 debut. This last set was based on the final paint job of 015 and could be any race from 1998 to 2000, when the truck finally retired. I believe the person who made this livery used the Auto Art die cast as a reference but I was told by Tom Morris that the paint job was accurate to at least one appearance during that time frame.
Got some new tires modeled in, these are the BFGoodrich Mud Terrain KM tires. In real life, they currently are equipped on 010 as a show truck. In the game, you will be able to choose between these and the Baja Terrain T/A KR tires for 15x8 wheels on chassis 010. These are textured in clean and dirty. Credit to Blkfxx
We finally got the PPI custom 17x7 Beadlock wheels textured, which look amazing with the BFG T/A KR Baja tires. Was trying to get a screencap out of Blender but I couldn't figure out how to hide the center marker. So that means the wheels for 015 and tires for both trucks are done. 010 is looking like that will have to be reverse engineered from limited photos and video data. Still in the process of sourcing a modeler. Might be thinking of putting this project on hold, seems bigger than it started out to be.
Whipped these previews up really quick, was trying to see if I could pair the tires with it but could not figure out how to apply the textures to the BFG KR1s. These look so good! Credit to Blkfxx.
010 is getting modeled! So the FH4 model was not working out but by dissecting it we did learn some things about the truck so it was not a total waste. It is in some part a good guide for modeling along with photos and video about the truck we were able to dig up. 015 may be modeled by the same individual, not certain but its a start
Video progress of Chassis 010 being done courtesy of Bremer. He also agreed to model 015 as well. Need to update the roadmap. --- Post updated --- In addition, we’re also going to model the Progressive Pro wheels and Yokohama Mud Digger tires 010 had in its early 1989 and 1990 seasons. Instead of ripping the Ultra Wheels model from FH4/5, we’re also having those done, wip preview. Model credits to Blkfxx
More model progress! The engine is a placeholder. I spent some time playing the Rally expansion in FH5 today. In the process I found out that 010 had mirrors on the door panels. Kinda miffed at myself for not noticing before, but honestly was looking at images for other areas of the truck that need to be paid attention to, like the chassis and underside that is hard to recreate because so little info and images of the bare chassis exist for the truck. On a side note, I also had to redo all the tunes because the latest update broke all my old ones and loading them crashed the game. I will also be fixing and adding in exhaust details to the liveries that reference the 010 chassis, including the plain versions. At some point I will have a poll to determine how minimalistic the plain versions will be. No logos at all or at least the Toyota logo on the door panel? Until I see more progress, see you folks next time!
Updated my livery references made in FH5 based on older Baja 500 and 1000 photos, used the correct number font this time. References (1991 Baja 1000 and 1993 San Felipe 250): FH5 recreations: So, I corrected the numbers on the plates but not the right rear panel for #125. Oops. Will be fixed later. Was based on a video from Ouch Productions
Hey all, got a quick series of polls here for you regarding the appearance of 010 and the number plates. During the years the truck ran with Yokohama tires, I noticed at least three prominent numbers, so please vote which should be displayed: https://strawpoll.com/polls/7rnzmMevLyO This next poll is for the number displayed on the BFGoodrich livery. In the research I did I only noticed two so I’ll leave it up to you guys: https://strawpoll.com/polls/bVg8o4YarnY Last poll, this will be for the color customizable versions of the livery template. Three selectable colors with a white base coat, which means a main swatch and swatches for the two smaller stripes on the sides and hood: https://strawpoll.com/polls/BDyNENRoeZR
odd thing to quote from. We are working on the truck, no release date yet. no estimate yet. it will be out when its done. That said, here's more frame progress being done.
More progress with the Ultra Custom 15x8 wheels for 010 Also WIP of the earlier Progressive Pro wheel option. This was retained to the hubs with a large nut for easy tire changes during races. More progress to come as I see it. Grateful for the support this project is getting. Blkfxx is killing it with these wheels and tires for the trucks. Beastdriver/Bremer has been awesome with the chassis modeling. If anyone else wants to contribute to this project, I won't turn down anyone as long as they know what they're getting into and what this project means to me. I'm crossing my fingers for a Christmas release for 010 (which honestly is hopeful at best).
