If i may... (acura rsx, i always wanted one of these as a little kid) Although a legacy is not bad at all, and Subaru 4wd is superb in the winter. However as much as people will aggressively defend Subaru reliability you always gotta keep the head gasket issue in mind, plus the fact that all Subaru parts are never as cheap as a Honda or Toyota. Also note that Subaru's 4wd is quite high tolerance, in that if your tires are more than 1/4 of an inch different in circumference you can risk cooking your transfer case over time, which is not cheap to fix; If you have to replace a tire, best to replace all 4 or get the new one shaved down to equal tread height as the remaining tires.
