MASSIVE DEVELOPMENT: The game is coded to crash when RESET_COMPLETELY is called, as when I commented it out in one of the LUA scripts the car stopped changing parts but it didn't break or anything. So, yeah! I'm closer tha really, that's odd I could have SWORN that it came out in June 2013 also OT but do you know what this map is? it kinda looks like a beta small island to me
it would be so cool if they just had this lying around somewhere even after The Great Desktop Cleanup Incident --- Post updated --- need beamng.lua from version 0.3.7.6 I think that might help fix it
I have found this version of the game on my pc, not sure exactly on the version: Im pretty sure its pre 0.4 as there are no hay bails
Hutch has a version of Dry Rock Island uploaded up on the Repo, My guess is it's probably the last version of Dry Rock Island before it got replaced by Jungle Rock. https://beamng.com/resources/dry-rock-island.1863/ I also have a copy from around this period with a bunch of mods still installed as well! If I'd hazard a guess mine is probably 0.3.1.0? or from around the time the Pigeon was added. My guess is that some of the older versions of Beam NG are going to be rough to track down due to now due to the auto update function that was added fairly soon after the game was released. Only gives me a blank white screen on my version, if I recall it was just a IRC client built into the game.
The version i have was given to me by a guy so i could port the content to the newer version of beam, its version 0.3.1
Yeah, but I believe its the v2 of it (the discord one is v3) as the wings dont split and its not been edited for the current version
Yeah, the Pigeon was released in the Pre-Race update in 0.3.1 - so if you don't have the T75 or the Sunburst on that version, it'd be between June and September of 2014. Also, a lot of things related to the really old pre-0.4 versions, like the changelogs and whatnot, haven't been kept too well on this site, either. Thankfully, there's the BeamNG Wikia for all the info on the changelogs from that era.
anyways idrk how I could spin techdemo v2 into something more like the equivalent build from that time. Checked all the Lua files, loaded the whole game folder and tried to search for possible culprits through VSCode, and still I'm only left with the idea that replacing existing meshes is what makes it crash, and not just changing parts. --- Post updated --- Seeing everyone chip in is really cool! Who knows, maybe one of you have a version in the range I'm looking for (after 0.3.6 but before 0.3.8.1 when the UI got overhauled again) You can spot it out by opening the game and seeing, say, 0.3.7.8 in the corner. A few contributors: Maybe we could try to get every version of the game that's been lost (although distribution would be... not recommended I'll say)
95% sure it's a really old version of Small Island. It looks familiar to how I remember it from way back when.
Were you like an early playtester or something because everything I've found points to the game releasing in summer 2013 (Wikipedia and internet archive) --- Post updated --- might it be possible for you to record a video of combing through that map (trying to recreate it)
The road layout, especially at the start is pretty much the same as all the later versions of small island (even the remastered one), back then they seem to have had a whole forest surrounding the road and the paved ones don't seem to have been made at that point. Even things like the shape of the hill are pretty much the same, cool to see how far it's come over the years. You can even trace out the route they took, the overall layout hasn't really changed apart from a few smaller details
I have this old video I made on the 10th of august 2013, using version 3.0.5, back when Derby Areana's was first released, I'll un-private it, I also have a modded video from November 2013 too, though that will serve no use here. The computer at the time was runnning on a Intel quad q6600, 4gb ddr2, GT210, I played with the recording software for hours just to get the quality I did out of it without the program refusing to record or locking up the whole computer. I have the original hard drive somewhere around, I could get screenshots, though at the time it was on the family computer, it's possible the old version on my profile has been nuked from the HDD by now, I think I remember being told my account was removed as I never used it, the PC was being used up until 2018. It's just white and blank for me... --- Post updated --- Ahhhh i found something on an old af external HDD of mine!!!!!! BeamNG v0.3.0.5, no pigeon edition haha (earliest release version found yet?)
I'll be amazed if this is still around somewhere. The Great Desktop Cleanup Incident means the chance of this existing on any developer computer is pretty much 0. There might be something on the dark web, but, as SuperAgentAlex would say, "5D Computer".
