?

Do you think that adding "lore" to the official vehicles would add to the game?

For the past few weeks I have been tossing around the idea of dolling up the vehicle pages in the wiki to more closely resemble real world car wikipedia pages. With all of the careful assessment of period correctness that goes into these cars to make them believable yet unique, it seems fitting that they should have quirks, trivia, and an aura of "we'll fix it as we go" that real cars do. After all, this is a driving experience game, not a pure racing game. The devs have done something that I haven't seen in a game yet; they will give you the pavement stomping top trim model right along side the docile and boring base model just like real car makes do.

This led me to a roadblock... We have very little "lore" (for lack of a better word) for the cars in game.

Take a look at this wikipedia page for the Chevy C/K pickup line.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_F-Series_seventh_generation

There isn't really a ton of specific info there, but it is enough to show that the truck is constantly evolving, being tweaked, and becoming available with different packages and features.

I feel like something like this could really add to the charm of the the cars that are in this game.

I realize that the devs are quite busy as is, but with the dev blog back up and running it would be cool to see a dev post from time to time that highlights and showcases a random vehicle and fleshes out its history. I'm not looking for a grueling process of complete timelines and part categorization here, but more of a fun exercise for the devs to give us an insight to some of the character that they already build into their cars while adding even more.

Edit: To clarify, this is something that I'd like to be official, not randomly generated by community inputs.

Remember when the Moonhawk's left turn signal dash indicator came on with the headlights? That's the kind of thing I want to see in the game. I know there won't be a huge amount of diversity in vehicles even in the final product, so having flaws the bring character like the Moonhawk being plagued with electrical issues would be sooooo cool.

Gabester almost does this with his vehicle descriptions, things like 'anemic 70s car' and 'quintessential american sedan' bring a sort of character to the cars, even if it is dissing the cars a bit.

So yeah, I'm all for lore like this.

Or like how the GM catches fire when it's rear ended, just like the Crown Vic did.

Pardon? We're not looking for the real world analogues of the cars, we're looking for a story behind the fictious brands of BeamNG. Everyone here knows the Covet is a late eighties Civic and so on...

Yeah it's possible to draw similarities to real cars, but this thread is looking for history and info on the cars in game based on the beamng universe. You wouldnt go to the wiki for the elder scrolls and see things like "the redgards are Bathesdas interpretation of so and so's history and historical culture, but they added and changed blah blah blah". You would find the redgards actual (and obviously fictional) history as it exists in the elder scrolls universe. Im looking for the dev teams own explanation on the beamng 'universe' as they envision it. The honda civic is not a part of the beamng universe, the Covet is. I want to know about the Covet.
