So, a few issues with the current vehicle and level documentation while the new vehicles are being added: -The LeGran's model years are listed as 1984-1988, while showing the 1989-1993 facelift version. The model years could be listed as 1984-1993 instead, to reflect the addition of the facelift. -The Vivace and Tograc both have their model years listed as 2020-2020; the in-game model years are 2020-2024. -The D-Series' model years are listed as 1992-2003, covering the first and second facelifts - but not the original D-Series. It should be 1986-2003 instead. -The Covet's model years are listed as 1987-1991, and I believe it's using an image from pre-0.26. The in-game model years are 1986-1992. -The Wendover's model years are listed as 1987-1991, even though the facelift goes all the way to 1995. -I don't know if the game or the documentation has this wrong, but the documentation says Hirochi Raceway is 1536 x 1536, while the game says it's 1500 x 1500. I'm inclined to believe the game more, but I could be wrong on that. -The PBR statuses for content might be outdated, but they don't seem to be. -I'm not sure if the Autobuggy's model years should be included with the Piccolina - the Autobuggy was made until 2022, according to the game, but that could be an error.
the d-series has a pre HDR (before pbr and HDR! pre remaster even!) image too the old auto buggy with picdolina body was made in the 60s, but the modern, angular, sharp one was made much more recently
The two new brands, FPU and Sandstorm Performance (SP), have to be added as well, along with their respective models, plus the Stambecco for the Autobello brand. As for the Autobuggy (missed opportunity for the devs to call it the Piccobuggy), no, its years shouldn't be included because it's like the Off-Road version of the Scintilla: a private backyard project.
I'm aware that FPU and SP have to be added - that's what I meant by "while the new vehicles are being added". And yeah, it makes sense that the Piccobuggy wouldn't be included in the model years - the Hop-Crawler and D-Runner/Crawler have model years within the ranges of their production counterparts, even though they likely are a lot newer.
So, I found some more issues with the documentation today: In "Levels", Gridmap is shown in its V1 form, with pictures from pre-0.23 and a map size of 1024x1024. In "Props and Trailers", several props are missing: -Cardboard Box -Delineator Post -Fridge -Large Tires -Lounge Set -Plastic Barrier -TV -Wooden Chair
Well, maybe, since the documentation is now being updated. Hopefully, this update also includes fixing all the issues found with the current version, and not just slapping more errors on top of the previous ones.
Another missing section, the credits/team section. No results. The old wiki redirects to another page, which redirects to a 404.
Team info can be found on the Company website, but probably could be added to the new docs. https://beamng.gmbh/team/
I don't want to ruin the excitement, but everything here is quite refreshing, and the website is lot cooler-looking and does a wonderful job of explaining the soft-body physics concept to everyone. The interactive elements significantly improve it. The artwork is excellent, and the only other term that comes to me is refreshing once more. When it is properly released, maybe this will encourage more people to visit the forums and website.
Where did the specific pages for vehicles go? Why is the list so dumbed down that each vehicle doesn't even have its own page? This is not a good list.
The pages have been gone for years, ever since they replaced the old wiki. From what I understand the documentation is lower priority than actual work on the game so it's not worked on as much which is a shame.
It's important for us as the community to go through this new documentation once in a while and catch erroneous/outdated information so that it can be replaced/updated by the dev team. (this is especially true for anything that reflects the state of ongoing development).
For the love of god I will volunteer to sink ungodly amounts of hours into typing up vehicle descriptions and facts in lists and wiki-style pages if the devs give me the power to do so. I do not even need to get paid for this, I simply just want to see a better documentation system and would be fully willing to volunteer huge swaths of time to such a project. I am offering to write an entire vehicle/map/prop wiki for BeamNG, for free, this is not a joke I am 100% serious, please just reach out to me
Ive already planned out a template to categorize configurations, power specs, update changes, values, lore and development history of vehicles All the dev's have to do is DM me asking me to make it I'll have a horrifying amount done by Friday
