I feel like I need the mix of both worlds of clutch assistant on and off. With a clutch assistant on the car launches nicely and changes gears nicely, everything else it does is a pain in the neck: Engaging the clutch while crawling, so the car stops because wheels aren't not powered, or under really heavy braking that wheels lock up a bit. I sometimes need to keep the throttle on 5-10% and brake at the same time while going down a steep hill while offroading. It's annoying me quite a lot. I can do this with clutch assistant off, but since I'm on a gamepad and not sophisticated and expensive steering wheel setup, I have trouble getting to move without stalling or flooring it, and with changing gears. I tried to set clutch keybinding on a joystick, so I had some control over it, but it just doesn't work out. I need a clutch assistant that will launch me like a boss, make smooth gear changes, but keep the clutch engaged in pretty much any other circumstance. And disengaging it slowly when the engine goes under idle value on particular gear selected, but try to slowly engage it so it's in gear.
Yeah, but all it does is rev match on gear changes, i need the assistant to stop engaging the clutch when i'm engine braking down hill and crawling uphill without throttle on low range gearbox
Understandable, have a nice day. But yeah, this post is more directed towards devs to see if anything can be done with it.
See, those are extremely different scenarios and it's virtually impossible to combine any given clutch use in a single logic that will please everyone. The game can't possible know in advance what you are trying to do, yet the logic is constantly trying to optimize lots of parameters for the current scenario. But as everything this has its limits...
You have made me realise something: I absolutely forgot that a human, while driving a car, subconsciously plans everything in a couple of second advance and sets up everything to fit. And as you said, the game can't know what i want to do in a moment.
