Are you using keyboard? If so thats the problem, the keyboard can't simulate a real clutch its either on or off. In real life you don't just fully release the clutch. I have no problem with my wheel and pedals.
I'm using a gamepad, but yeah it's the same thing, either on or off. Flooring it before shifting works but it's pretty annoying.
Problems either a conflicting mod or something your not doing right, The mod works %100 been running/ updating it since the 1st release
So the devs put out the new update containing start/stop buttons, stalling and restarting the engine and all of that. Also, there's a possibility now for the engine to go below zero rpms (-5000), when you press reverse on the speed.
I plan on revamping this mod to work with the new system. Obviously my start/stop mechanic will be replaced with theirs, but I plan to have all the sounds still work, Ignition key, etc... Hopefully it all works out EDIT: Oh and the horn won't sound like a choppy "BEP BEP BEP...." It will actually sound decent
My internet is acting all stupid so I couldn't test the new version until now, but as far as I know, the new system still doesn't have mis-shifting, gear damage, clutch damage, or sounds for all that matters right? But the important thing is that the "core", and the way the engines and rmp work right now is more accurate so it might be less of a hassle to implement cool things. I GUESS I hope the new system will make it easier for you to center on more specific things, I remember you said the mod already had a ton of lines of code. So if you have to write less code that means less probability of bugs and unstabilities
I found a way to damage gears in the code, it just doesn't show any information until you completely damage it (attached file below). Short preview of the More Features Mod 9.0: Only thing implemented at the moment is start sounds, horn, and 4WD switch sounds (the headlight switch sound, might change it later) Horn still needs reworking, as it makes a terrible loop sound, but it won't be as bad as before. --- Post updated --- Oh and I almost forgot! The ignition system is still here! (previously the 'F' key, now 'E')
This is looking great! Also the horn sound loop "crackle" seems to be a quirik of the audio file itself, now that it's independant of the fps everything should go smoothly And about the gear damaging, how will it work? Will it be impossible to engage that particular gear? That could lead to some interesting situations like Ayrton Senna's 1991 race where he won without half the gears on his car. Oh and also, now that sound looping seems fixed, maybe the gear grinding sound could loop itself (that would be an indication of the gears being damaged) until you disengage that gear, and maybe even pitch-correct it to the car speed or rpm. Maybe I'm getting too excited about this, I'm still fiddling around with the new update
It's really great to see a modder eager to update and push new features out for their mod, and for free; better than some game devs out there. Can't wait for the update!
You should also make it where you have to press the clutch in when starting a manual car like in real life.
You mean pressing the clutch or starting in neutral right? With the current system it's like the starter engine has infinite power but it's otherwise quite realistic If the devs programmed the starter engine as a separate thing with its own power/torque, it would be cool that trying to start in gear actually made the car move forwards a realistic amount, and maybe crap itselfl up in the process. I've heard stories of old cars that could use the starter engine to actually move the car a bit anyways
I mean press the clutfch all the way in to star the vehicle. In real life you cant start a manual unless you press the clutch all the way in even if its in neutral.
What? I start my manual Opel Astra almost every time in neutral, not pressing any pedal. What kind of manual doesn't let you start in neutral?
Really interesting none of my manual cars let me I have to press clutch --- Post updated --- Okay yeah I looked it up and older car you don't have to press the clutch but newer cars you do.
I have just read on the internet that there are some places like Australia and some States that require cars to be unable to start without the clutch deppressed by law! Here in Spain that doesn't seem to be the case, and that's why I always check that the car is in neutral before starting (unless I've parked on a hill, there I obviously start in first gear with clutch and brake deppressed) The more you know. Update: and then there's people like this
You can individually blow gears if you don't use the clutch it just takes a lot of times and you don't hear any sounds
Wait a second so it's already implemented? I thought StinchinStein meant that he found that on the code but was unused, like when they had the stall code on previous versions. This update is a box of surprises!
