Adding the Austrian 640cc F2 engine. 1hp more than the 650cc I2, about 1Nm more peak torque which the inertia differences even out, slightly different final drive which isn't practically noticable at all, but the peak power is in higher RPM and the 4th gear ratio is different, which both mean higher top speed. I didn't find a torque curve but I made it from a modified I2 one, based on the performance data I found, and it turned out accurate to the descriptions I found. Up to about 100 km/h the performance is not that much better but still noticably improved, as seen below, and above that the I2 loses power much quicker than the F2, which is accurate to the descriptions I've read.

I'm testing on the stripped chassis because I still haven't reduced the weight (have to do many preparations for it) and with 250kg too much the weight really slows down the vehicle a lot. The new engine will use the Piccolina engine model with modified textures for a few parts, it looks way closer to the F2 engine than the I2 one does. I have tested that it will fit but it's not yet in.
I can tell now why they used this one in a rally at first, it was 2 years before the 650cc engine was introduced and the only option was 600cc, which as you can see is way slower (completely stock 600cc versions with rally tires and liveries were also competing in rallys but only against each other, not more powerful cars).

Nice, these Austrian F2 are really interesting, quite different from the classic I2. At the time Erich Ledwinka worked with Steyr-Punch (Son of Hans Ledwinka of Tatra fame), He also co-designed several Tatras with his father and Erich Übelacker who’d work for Borgward after the war. So naturally he chose the flat twin for the original Steyr-Puch 500 And that engine stayed all the way into the 126.

Interesting, so the 500 and 126 both have the same engine? Do they also have the same carburetor and stuff? Because I think I had a torque curve for the 500 but I had no idea they had the same engine, if they have the same torque curve I can make it extremely accurate like with the I2 engines
EDIT: Nvm I only have the stats that I already had before
Maybe you can find the torque curve?

I’ve looked around but can’t really find anything either. However, I think that it will be a typical boxer engine that requires high RPMs to get power out of it.

Austrians used several engine sizes, so I’d imagine that the carburettors and other things would’ve changed.

I think I've checked and fixed all my other mods by now, so tomorrow I'll get back to this one finally. Just quickly checked that the 3-lug wheels do indeed fit, although they instantly fall off on spawn, I guess because i reduced the suspension weight too much and it can't hold them lol. That will be fixed, don't worry. Offroad tires look kinda cool, might swap them to the normal 4-lug wheels too.

    That gave me an idea...
How about a 3-wheeled version ? (If it's not too difficult)

You mean this? Kinda looks like the Pigeon lol
    sadaseasd.jpg
I thought about one too but it would require a new model and I suck at modelling, especially editing something as high poly as this, would be a pain.

That would be soooo dangerous! :D

But I don’t think that it would be easy, the complete front end would’ve to reworked.

The new Wigeon and the remastered Pigeon have modifiable passenger weights that can be set for each seat (In case of the Wigeon you can even put sandbags into the trunk), how hard would it be to make such a thing for the Maluch.

I’d love to recreate the typical overloaded Maluch, filled with the entire family and tons of stuff heading to the sea.

Fixed 3-lug wheels support. Turns out the weight of the suspension was all good (exactly the same as in Wigeon actually, so we can assume it's accurate), it was just a bit too stiff. Had to update standard wheels too, as I originally based them on the now outdated old Pigeon wheels that aren't exactly compatible with new suspension, the weight distribution on the old ones is too much in the center.
Also added offroad tires to normal wheels:
    asdasdas.png
Also Jbeamed brake rotors so you can ride on them like you can for some official vehicles lol
    dsasdasd.png
Next thing to do is implementing engine oil simulation and various oil pans.

Sorry I didn't see the post earlier, adding passenger weight should be super easy (it's just 1 node and some beams + tuning options) but I prefer to add dummies like in the original mod with adjustable weight instead, and instead of sand bags I would add normal bags, suitcases and other similar stuff if someone made models and textures for them, Jbeaming that should be also really easy.

Oil simulation seems to be working as intended

PBR materials... kinda, there's not much I can do to make it better with current textures + I lack any experience with PBR, but still looks kinda cool. Shouldn't ruin any default colors. Showing normal and full metallic.

Nice, this mod has come a long way.

It would be also good to add some luggage for the roof rack (If somebody makes the models, of course).

I’d personally prefer to have also the dummy-less option since I find that dummies can sometimes cause havoc with the car during fast driving, and driving on rough roads but, I’m not the one making the mod so that’s up to you whether to add both options, I’ll be happy either way. :D

Obviously there will be a version for just the weight and no dummies, I was referring to how I imagine the overloaded configuration. And also I'm not reusing the messy dummies from the original mod, I'll use a modified version of my walking dummy mod instead. I still have to make decent textures for it though. Also I'll either keep the Stig as it is or make my own Jbeam, idk yet.

This thing has come so far. PBR looks pretty nice on this. Textures, yeah, needs some work, like the headlights, taillights, signals, etc but other than that this is looking good!

The textures you metioned are literally pictures of the real life parts lol, they aren't made for this game at all, but due to a complete lack of even similar ones in game I have to keep using these, unless someone makes a new model with new textures.

The version from this thread is still really far from done, if I were to estimate I'd say it's maybe almost halfway done so probably at least 2-3 months more? That is if I can find someone to do the suspension finally, and if nobody wants to remake and retexture the model because that can take a long time.

Finally finished the F2 engine (model heavily based on the Piccolina one), this took way longer than all the other engines combined... Engine mounts still behave weird but I need to redo them from scratch anyway after I finish with the weight reduction, which I'll try to have done by tomorrow if possible (don't hope for that though).

Is this good weight now? It counts the wheel hubs / brake drums as wheels, so with them and suspension + full fuel tank it's 310kg and without them 290, I need to know before I change the beam values.

Yeah, that seems about right, also I love that F2.

Yesterday I’ve found this (I knew about it before but completely forgot about it), a 250 cc, 15 HP 2-cylinder 2-stroke Maluch. :D

I never thought that I’d se 126 engine bay so empty…
