Really nice map, it might be my new favorite! My only complaint is the guardrails, fences, etc. can be quite "sticky," and they grab on to your vehicle and won't let go.
Sticky fences and rails come from too small meshes being used (face-size on smaller, finer details, causes nodes/beams to pass thru and get stuck). Make a collision model that's much simpler and devoid of small details to fix this.
Thanks, I am glad you like it, the v 0.3 beta is released ! I hope there will be less memory crash now. Do you have a skybox you prefer I add to the track, SergentFido ? Some changes : - Clouds - Racing track moved to an other place (north-east) - Barrers collision partially fixed - Materials optimisation - Mesh optimisation
Good work! BTW Gotta keep asking till I got an aswer - is it possible to release the racing circuit as a single map (next to the countryside map) or will you consider it?
The map now crashes the game after updating to 0.3. I have verified that the zip isn't corrupted and all of my other maps work.
Erf, sorry, I will check that as soon as possible. I let the v 0.2 available for the moment. I think I answered you in one of my precedent message, j2305432.: p
Of course you did, sorry I missed that somehow Looking forward to it, should help the fps/memory aswell
Thanks so much for your efforts with porting this across. Having played the game when it first came out, I'm amazed at how similarly it feels to drive on with the more advanced physics engine of BeamNG. It really goes to show just how advanced Mafias driving physics were when it came out. If you're able to, do you think you could do an alternate version of this which features the large bridge under construction from the ending of the Creme de le Creme mission? It'd allow for a nice stunt/crash set piece Edit: Made a quick video of this showcasing it from the air. I bet the original developers never imagined flying over this when it was first made
Yes indeed, I was thinking about that too, James ! But I don't know if it need an other map just for that. Maybe I can add this half bridge alfter the closed road ? It looks very nice in the air, I will try to increase the max distance display, because for now I reduced it to 1500 meters due to performances optimisation. I also already closed a lot of holes, because the original Mafia game have a very tiny distance view ! Ok, I found why it crash, it's a bit crazy, it's because a collision mesh don't have material... ! :-o It crash only when the .cdae are loaded, the .dae are ok but when I run the map after an export of the objects, all the .cdae are rebuild and used after the second run of the map, so it's why I don't saw the crash for me. Well, it's fixed on the v 0.3.1 ! Please tell me if you have better performances now. Collisions might be better too. The racing track is now on the North-East of the map (go front, pass the tunnel and it will be on the right after the lake).
Thanks to the Illusion Softwork developper who made a very nice level design ! Some lights progress, even if I don't like the night in BeamNG, too dark :
My FPS is actually worse now. I now get 40-45fps when stationary and 23fps when driving at 70+mph. I used to get 55-60fps when stationary and 37-45fps when driving at 70+mph. Granted this is on a cheapo AMD R7 260x, but still, it got worse.
I love this. I never got to enjoy Mafia 1 but I think this will substitute. Is it possible to paste the hole map in beamng.drive because if that's possible It would be the best .
Exactly and I think it wouldnt be even fun to drive alone in empty city, countryside seems more interesting for beamng.. On the other hand, if I remember it well, in Mafia there was an "Extreme Freeride" mod where there was added crazy jumps in some areas of the city, if you know what I mean
